This is an on-going job for my son who has Down Syndrome and will be turning 15 later this month. My daughter is part of the household and his natural environment but does not require his level of support. He has a Medicaid program and the pay will be funding through that. He is beginning high school (9 am start) and I can use a hand getting him out the door and driven to school in austin Isd school days. After school (4:30 pm) I can use a hand driving him to his therapy appointments, communicating with providers and being in waiting room as I am right now during appts, or taking him to recreational activities. Weeknights he can also use support with chores, hygeine, dinner and hanging out. A little but of his laundry and keeping his room clean. He is a big iPad, Disney, toy and art fan. We have a rescue dog. He is in an iCan shine bike camp this week and will hopefully he riding his bike in addition to basketball at home. On weekends recreational activities and some companionship. He likes to go to movies, the austin toy museum, and restaurants that serve pizza or chicken nuggets. Experience or course work with special needs can be helpful. He is almost 5'4 and weighs 150 pounds so experience with and enjoyment of working with teens is strongly preferred. The children's father and I were divorced then he passed away in 2016. Patience, laughter, and strong communication skills are a huge plus. I haven't listed specific hours as this depends on each caregivers availability. He has a team and each person can work up to forty hours a week.
