About this nanny job

We are looking for an individual who can provide part-time help regularly on Saturdays (~11am to 7/8pm) to provide support and care for our 14-year-old nonverbal son with profound Autism, Sensory Processing Disorder, and Intellectual/Developmental Disorder. Our son is a sweet, silly, and quite active teenager alternating with times of relaxing in his bedroom. He loves watching cartoons on his iPad, listening to Taylor Swift, playing in the water in our outdoor hot tub and splash mats or running into and out of the water at the beach, swinging on indoor and outdoor swings, jumping on the trampoline, going for walks or car rides to food destinations or parks or the beach, and turning any object into a drumming stick to tap away. If walking in a safe area with no traffic, he can walk independently however, he must be at arm’s length. He communicates via hand gestures, hand leading, using handful of modified signs, pointing to pecs when presented with them, eye gazes, and vocalizations to convey happiness, agitation, annoyance, etc. along with facial expressions. We are looking for someone who has patience, compassion, is physically able to manage maladaptive behaviors, and a willingness to adapt to the unique needs of our son. Responsibilities include: Providing One-on-One/Individual Support: Assisting our son with activities of daily living (ie, brushing teeth, dressing, toileting (not potty trained), etc.), meal prep, communication, transitions between activities or locations Ensuring safety by maintaining a safe environment for him and manage challenging behaviors (SIBs). Important note: Payment would be through 3rd party payroll provider. Rate is $40/hr The hiring process includes: Phone interview, meet in-person, and enrolling into our 3rd party payroll provider (includes work authorization, W2 forms, background check, welcome packet) followed by at-home training with us and our other caregivers. We live in San Francisco area a couple blocks away from Stern Grove living in Balboa Terrace neighborhood.
