Sr. Full Stack Software Engineer

About You

You are a software engineer with a real passion for development and a strong desire to push yourself and your team to learn and embrace the best of modern technology. You take pride in maintaining a codebase that makes prototyping and iterating on features a breeze. You love collaborating with other engineers, designers, and QA to ensure only quality products are shipped. Location

The position will be remote through August and extended per COVID. The position will then be in-person in one of three offices:

  • San Francisco, CA
  • Portland, OR
  • Denver, CO
Responsibilities
  • Build services and APIs for existing and new features for web and mobile apps
  • Drive new features end-to-end through prototyping, implementation, testing, shipping, and further iteration
  • Work alongside an excellent cross-functional engineering and QA team to build delightful features and intuitive interactions
  • Collaborate with product managers, designers and engineers alike
  • Write clean, stable, unit-tested code and accompanying documentation where needed
  • Maintain high-level performance quality
Requirements
  • At least 5+ years of relevant development experience
  • Ideal candidates should be fluent in at least one of the following languages:
    • Javascript
    • Java
  • Fluency with general architectural and design patterns, i.e. MVC, well designed APIs, efficient algorithms, etc...
  • Experience with general full stack best practices such as unit testing, continuous integration, source control
  • Able to learn and work in a rapid and agile development environment with frequent releases
  • Natural ability to empathize with UrbanSitter members and a strong desire to continuously improve their experience with our platform
  • Ability to debug complex systems
  • Degree in Computer Science or related field
Pluses
  • Experience with containers and orchestration tools, i.e. Docker, Kubernetes
  • Experience with GCP, AWS, or any cloud computing services
  • Experience with data pipelines
  • Experience with javascript frameworks such as React or Angular
  • Experience designing an API or Microservices platform

IT Operations and Security Analyst (Part-Time)

About You

As an Information Technology Operations and Security Analyst, you will design and implement IT security systems to protect our organization's systems and devices from cyber attacks. You will also help develop organization wide best practices for IT operations and security. You will proactively monitor systems for security issues, capacity, and performance;, manage the patch and virus management process for systems and software; and ensure the integrity and security of enterprise data in accordance to business needs and industry best-practices regarding privacy, security, and regulatory compliance. Our ideal candidate exhibits a can-do attitude and approaches their work with vigor and determination.

About the job

This is a part-time position: 20-30 hours per week.

Location

The position will be remote through September and extended per COVID. The position will then be in-person in one of three offices:

Responsibilities
  • Setup and manage employee devices in compliance with company standards and policies
  • Perform all administration functions for Google Workspace
  • Own all domain name management activities including registration, renewal, portfolio audits, etc...
  • Design, analyze and implement efficient IT security systems
  • Install and manage software, such as firewalls and data encryption programs, to protect sensitive information
  • Monitor networks for security issues
  • Investigate security breaches and other cybersecurity incidents
  • Fix detected vulnerabilities to maintain a high-security standard
  • Refine and enforce InfoSec policies and protections
  • Install security measures and operate software to protect systems and information infrastructure, including firewalls, patches, anti-virus, and data encryption programs.
  • Help colleagues install security software and understand information security management
  • Complete all corporate security questionnaires in partnership with our sales team
  • Coordinate and/or perform penetration testing
  • Research security enhancements and make recommendations to management
  • Stay up-to-date on information technology trends and security standards
  • Participate in the IT Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery plan
Requirements
  • 3+ years of experience in information technology and/or security
  • Experience with public cloud platforms like Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or AWS
  • Experience with Google Workspace administration
  • Experience with both MacOS and Windows
  • Familiarity with security issues associated with containers, distributed systems, and web applications.
  • Experience with network penetration testing and techniques
  • Extensive experience with pen testing tools and security attack vectors
  • Understanding of firewalls, proxies, SIEM, antivirus, and IDPS concepts
  • Strong understanding of network concepts including TCP/IP protocol stack, HTTP and TLS, DDoS detection/prevention, Intrusion detection and prevention
  • Understanding of patch management with the ability to deploy patches in a timely manner while understanding business impact
  • Experienced in installing security software and documenting security issues
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to employ critical and analytical thinking, logic and an attention to detail
  • Degree in Information Systems or related field
  • Experience with ISO 27001 standards a plus

The position will be fully remote through the remainder of 2021. The position will then be either in-person in one of three offices (San Francisco, CA, Portland, OR, Denver, CO) or can remain remote if preferred. If remote, you are preferably located in CA, CO, HI, OR, WA or VA.

About you:

As a Product Designer, you’ll be collaborating on our design across multiple touchpoints–web, iOS, Android, and email. You should be excited about working with our users, stakeholders, product managers, engineers, and QA to ensure only high-quality products are shipped.

You want to leverage our design system and brand standards to create delightful interactions and on-brand visuals. All of our design work starts with a deep understanding of our users and our business goals, but it should also look and feel amazing!

You should be comfortable working closely with others but also being the sole product designer on a small and growing team. If this is the job for you, you’ll get to work with caring, smart people on a product that changes people’s lives.

What you will do:
  • Distill complex problems into simple, elegant user flows and interaction
  • Create wireframes, mockups and prototypes aligned with our brand and style guide
  • Collaborate on early design concepts to explore multiple solutions and create alignment
  • Conduct “just-right” user testing as needed for new concepts or tricky interactions, including exploratory interviews and usability studies
  • Support design recommendations with quantitative metrics, user research, usability studies, community feedback and/or competitive analysis
  • Contribute to our design knowledge base (personas, experience maps, design principles, best practices, design system, etc.)
  • Document detailed interaction and UI specifications for engineers to bring to life
  • Collaborate with product managers, engineers and testers to launch features that will achieve product goals and delight UrbanSitter's community
What you have done:
  • Have 3+ years of experience designing beautiful, delightful consumer products and a portfolio showcasing both web and native mobile app work
  • Are experienced in interaction design, visual design and prototyping
  • Have the versatility to design both information-rich product screens and visually-rich landing pages
  • Are willing and able to work within an established design system where applicable
  • Possess knowledge of key design tools and processes (e.g. Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite, inVision, Figma, and/or other prototyping and testing tools)
  • Understand the importance of grid systems, composition, typography and color
  • Are influenced by (but not beholden to) design trends, Apple’s HIG and Google’s Material Design
  • Have worked successfully in an agile product development environment
  • Are able to lead multiple simultaneous design projects at various stages of completion
  • Empathize with our users and takes a user-centered approach to design
  • Thrive in a collaborative environment: solicit feedback, add value to others' work and elevate the quality of the team as a whole
