About this nanny job

We are looking for a nanny for our son as well as helper around the home. We can be flexible about most details except weekday hours and need to help with pick up. Son is in daycare till 5:30 (latest) on weekdays. Both parents work late on weekdays and have variable work schedules on weekends. Dad primarily works from home. On weekdays, we would like someone who can come at 4 to help with chores around the house (light cleaning, laundry, helping make dinner if mom was unable to batch cook earlier eg if was working the full weekend), then leave around 5 to pick up our son from daycare before 5:30. After that, we’d like for you to bring him home and serve as primary caretaker for the baby (dad usually home, mom will get home any time after 6:30 depending). If mom is home she will generally take the baby, in which case we ask that you be available for the same tasks as mentioned above (eg making dinner). Currently baby goes to bed between 8:30-9, so most likely you will not need to put him to bed, though that may change with age. Dinner of course included. We put in every Sunday for the schedule, but actually prefer someone who can be flexible (ie might work some weekends both days, some one day, and be off other weekends). We can be somewhat flexible on our end with which weekend are which, or if you prefer a set day a week that’s okay too. We can guarantee a minimum of 125 hours a month ($3500 a month), and will of course pay for any additional hours. Number of vacation days and pay during those days to be discussed, generally open to your thoughts. There is parking but we also live very close to the Caltrain station so you could take public transport and then use our car for day care pick up (2 miles away). Preferences (negotiable): 1. Somewhat flexible to come in for additional hours (ie if baby is sick and unable to go to daycare) 2. Experience caring for more than one child - we have friends who may be looking to add to your hours or ask you to care for 2 children at once if you are amenable. 3. If you speak a second language (particularly Spanish, Mandarin, Arabic, or French) we’d love to get some early exposure for baby We’d like to try a few days before committing. We anticipate needing care for at least 2 years.
