My daughter, is a 36-year-old young lady with Down Syndrome. She is sociable and her cognitive sills are very good. My requirement would be an individual who has some experience with special needs people. Because of her Down Syndrome she has Obsessional Slowness, which means she moves slowly: Her delay in movement is not intentional; she has no control over the slowness. Therefore a caregiver must have patience and not take her lack of movement as being arbitrary. She has some difficlty swallowing liquids. Also because of her Obsessional Slowness she takes a long time to finish a meal and therefore goes to bed late and sleeps late; often she might still be sleeping when caregiver arrives in the morning.
