I'm with Allies for Allies, an approved UrbanSitter partner, and we are helping a family in San Mateo find a compassionate and experienced full-time caregiver for their adult son who is 22-year-old and has complex care needs, including cerebral palsy, a visual impairment, epilepsy, and is nonverbal. The caregiver will assist with mobility and transfers, support community outings, and participate in school and therapy activities. The family will provide training and guidance, caregiver will work alongside a nurse for medical support during outings as well as assistance with lifts/transfers. This role is ideal for someone who is reliable, committed, physically able to assist with lifts/transfers, attentive, and enjoys working in both home and community settings. Key Responsibilities: Assist with all lifts, transfers, and mobility, including use of a Hoyer lift Drive the family van for school and activity transportation Support participation in school and therapy sessions (OT/PT/Speech) Facilitate community engagement, including swimming, art classes, and trips to local stores or farmers markets Communicate using AAC devices, gestures, client uses clapping or hand gestures for preferences Collaborate with a nurse on medical and respiratory needs (no bathing required) Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:30-4:30pm or 9am-5pm (will be determined based on nurses hours as they will overlap to assist each other in this role) Daily activities: On School days (M/W/F): ~2–4 pm, caregiver will attend school programs and therapy sessions with On Non-school days (T/Th): from approximately 1–4 pm, caregiver will assist client in participating in community activities Qualifications & Skills: Experience with complex care, mobility assistance, and medical equipment Strong physical strength and good balance/core stability Ability to follow care plans and communicate clearly with family and medical staff Flexible, reliable, and compassionate Start Date: December 1, 2025 (to align with school transition) Competitive hourly rate based on experience
