We're looking for someone warm, engaging, and energetic to care for our sweet, social 18-month-old son. He has an amazing sense of humor and loves to laugh! He's known as the "smiley-est baby ever" and rarely cries or has tantrums. We got lucky with this one. Our son thrives on outdoor time, and we're incredibly lucky with our location - our apartment building sits on the Cleveland Park/Van Ness border, and we're walking distance to multiple parks, nature trails, playgrounds and the public library. We're hoping for a caregiver who will get him outside daily (he has a stick collecting quota to keep up!), visit playgrounds, take him to story time at the library, and help him interact with other kids. My mom and brother live less than a mile away and love spending time with him, so coordinating meetups at playgrounds or having them visit the apartment would be wonderful. Inside, our son loves books and playing (especially silly games). He's not the world's best eater (he'd rather just play), so bonus points if you can crack that code and get him to eat. He typically naps between noon and 2pm, and during that time we'd love help with his laundry or meal prep. You should obviously help yourself to whatever food's in the kitchen. We're pretty go-with-the-flow parents. While we try to keep a somewhat structured schedule for meals and nap time, we're otherwise pretty laid back. Most importantly, we want someone who will genuinely engage with our son - reading together, playing, being silly, exploring the neighborhood. It's really important for us to find someone who genuinely enjoys being with him and isn't tempted by their phone or the TV. No car/driving required, but street parking is easy if you drive here. Everything is walkable (grocery stores, pharmacy, metro stations, etc.). Our son does have some medical history (he's had some procedures in the past), but day-to-day care is straightforward. The main thing is to let us know if he seems to be getting sick and keep an eye on him if that happens. He just reacts poorly to respiratory infections like flu, covid, common cold, etc. In fact, that's why we're moving away from daycare--to limit his exposure. We're looking for someone who can start soon, with flexible long-term arrangements. We'll pay market rate or above for the right person who loves spending time with toddlers! We listed 9:30-5:30 but we're also somewhat flexible on the hours as well.Nanny job details
