After-School Caregiver Needed (Special Needs) – Thu & Fri Looking for a kind, reliable caregiver to pick up my mild-mannered 11-year-old son (special needs) from school and care for him at home until early evening. He does best with someone patient and steady who can provide gentle guidance and extra help with certain day-to-day functions. Schedule • During the school year: every other Thursday and every Friday — school pickup at 2:45 PM, care until 6:00 PM. • June (summer school): pickup time changes to 12:15 PM (still Thursdays & Fridays), care until 6:00 PM. • July: summer school is over — schedule shifts to full days (9:00 AM–5:00 PM). • When school starts again: pickup time returns to 2:45 PM and care until 6:00 PM. Responsibilities • Pick up from school and ensure a safe transition home. • Provide attentive supervision and a calm afternoon. • Help with snacks and simple after-school routines. • Offer extra support with day-to-day functions as needed. • Light tidying related to the child (snack cleanup, putting away materials). • Prioritize communication if questions surface and flag schedule changes early. • Help with snacks and simple after-school routines. • Offer extra support with day-to-day functions as needed. • Light tidying related to the child (snack cleanup, putting away materials). • Prioritize communication if questions surface and flag schedule changes early. Ideal Caregiver • Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license for school pickup. • Patient, calm, and comfortable supporting an 11-year-old with special needs. • Observant, thoughtful, and emotionally intelligent—able to notice emotional needs and help create a steady, safe environment. • Open-minded, curious, and attentive to what’s needed in the moment—especially when social cues are subtle (or not present) and communication is unconventional. • Available long term, dependable, and consistent.
