Part-time Caregiver for SF-based, Bright 4-year-old with Mobility Challenges Our start date is sometime this summer, flexible. Rate: $47/hr (W-2/Over-the-table). Requirements: Reliable personal vehicle, valid driver’s license, clean driving record, LiveScan background check, CPR. We are a fun, welcoming family of four seeking a part-time caregiver for our 4-year-old daughter with disabilities. We live in San Francisco’s Outer Sunset neighborhood and are looking for someone to start in end of June, July, or August. Our daughter is positive, bright, and silly. She loves stuffed animals, friends, dancing, singing, and rainbows. She has ataxic cerebral palsy due to a birth injury and is working hard on acquiring new motor skills all the time. Her cerebral palsy affects her balance, coordination, and speech clarity (all of which are improving, however). She gets around our home and her classroom by hopping on the floor or holding someone’s hand and walking. Outside, she likes to use her walker, hold a hand to walk, or use a cart or stroller. The ideal candidate will be energetic, patient, loving, and experienced willing to learn how to work with a kid with coordination issues. You will be responsible for providing support for our daughter, mostly during her aftercare at school (she will be in TK in a general education classroom next year in the Richmond neighborhood in SF, and a caregiver would be present at the school site, similar to a paraprofessional role), and out in the community as she accesses activities and therapies (dance, swimming, horseback riding). The candidate will need to communicate well with teachers at the child’s school and outside therapists. The job requires driving in your own car; the farthest distance would be once a week to Woodside (about 30 miles each way). Mileage and gas will be reimbursed, and we'll provide the car seat. You would need to be comfortable lifting a stroller or walker in and out of your trunk. This job is about balancing our daughter’s safety with encouraging her to take increasing responsibility for her independence. The ideal candidate will be an expert at fading into the background when our daughter does not need support. We are looking for a candidate who'd take on this role for a year at minimum.
