We are looking for a reliable part-time caregiver, approximately 20 hours per week, to support our family for a long-term arrangement. The role will be part help with household tasks and part childcare. We have two goals. First, we would like to get more quality time as a family by decreasing our load of basic housekeeping like dishes, laundry, grocery shopping, and cooking. Second, we would like to get help with childcare logistics like school pick-ups and transportation to afterschool activities. Other than availability for the after-school timeframe, work hours are flexible; we are happy to try to accommodate other obligations like school or other part-time work. About us: We are both full-time professionals with jobs in Washington, D.C., but also dedicated parents. Our kids are currently in full-day programs (school + aftercare), but we would like to have the flexibility to pick them up earlier than 6:00 p.m. to make evenings less rushed and especially to bring them to afterschool activities—something that is not possible now because of our full-time jobs. Our kids are happy, outgoing, and fairly adaptable, and they get along well with each other. Responsibilities include: - Pick-up one or both children from school/daycare most days of the week. - Take children to/from after school activities a few times per week. - Grocery shopping once per week (we will provide a shopping list, and we are within walking distance of grocery stores). - Prepare healthy dinners approximately three nights per week (we would provide recipes). - Light housework and house tasks: dishes daily, cleaning up kitchen and play areas, vacuuming/mopping/light cleaning as needed; family laundry weekly, etc. - Availability to stay late one evening per week. - Occasional assistance with household-related errands. Requirements: - Safe driver with an excellent driving record; ability to bring your own vehicle is preferred. - Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. - Childcare experience. - Comfort cooking healthy meals and following simple recipes. - Ability to reliably perform household tasks like dishes, light cleaning, and laundry. The ideal candidate will have occasional availability for additional hours of childcare such as days off of school.Nanny job details
