We’re a busy, friendly two-career family looking for a warm, dependable, and organized Family Assistant to become a trusted part of our household. We have school-age children and need someone who enjoys working with kids while helping our busy weekday afternoons run smoothly. Schedule: Monday–Friday, approximately 2:30–6:30 PM during the school year, averaging 20–25 hours/week. We’re looking for someone who can reliably commit to weekday afternoons and provide consistency for our family. Responsibilities: Your afternoon will typically begin with school pickup in Torrance 5 days/week. You’ll need your own safe, reliable, insured vehicle and a clean driving record. Mileage for work-related driving is reimbursed beginning with school pickup. After school, you’ll prepare snacks, supervise homework, and drive the kids to sports, lessons, appointments, and other activities. You’ll also help keep their schedules organized and make sure they have what they need for school and activities. The family-assistant portion of the role includes grocery shopping about 2x/week, occasional household errands, starting simple dinners/meal prep, and light tidying related to the kids and daily activities. This is not a housecleaning position. We have a housekeeper and do not expect deep cleaning, bathrooms, or major household cleaning—just helping reset the kitchen/common areas after snacks, meals, homework, or activities. Our ideal person is kind, responsible, proactive, organized, and comfortable working independently. You communicate well, notice what needs to be done, and can manage the moving pieces of a busy household without constant direction. Most importantly, you’re patient and engaging with school-age kids and can provide structure while maintaining a positive, relaxed environment. Requirements: Experience with school-age children; reliable, insured vehicle; clean driving record; strong references; background check; dependable and punctual; comfortable driving children and running errands. Compensation: $25–$35/hour, depending on experience, plus mileage reimbursement for work-related driving. We’ll begin with a paid trial week to make sure it’s a great fit for everyone.
