About this nanny job

I am looking for a warm, patient, reliable, and engaging childcare support person to work with my 9-year-old son, who is diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and ADHD. This is more than a traditional babysitting position. My husband and I need someone who genuinely enjoys working with neurodiverse children and can provide a combination of structured support, companionship, creative engagement, and after-school care. The primary focus is supporting our son after school with activities that encourage independence, social interaction, emotional regulation, and confidence. We are especially interested in someone who is creative and artistic and enjoys engaging children through hands-on activities. Activities may include: 🎨 Painting, drawing, coloring, and other creative projects 📚 Light homework and schoolwork support 🧩 Games, puzzles, and activities that encourage focus and problem-solving 🏃‍♂️ After-school activities and community outings 🧠 Supporting transitions, routines, and emotional regulation We are looking for someone who can meet him where he is, build a genuine connection with him, and make his afternoons both productive and enjoyable. This position is provided through Community Habilitation (CommHab) and funded through Braverhood, an agency operating in connection with the New York State Office for People With Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD). The selected provider will be paid directly through Braverhood at $32/hour. Braver hood will handle the required onboarding and payment process. A valid Social Security Number (SSN) is required to receive payment through Braverhood. Ideal Candidate We are looking for someone who is: Kind, patient, dependable, and energetic Comfortable and experienced working with autistic children Familiar with ADHD and neurodiversity Creative and enjoys art, crafts, and hands-on activities Comfortable providing light homework support Able to provide structure while remaining flexible and patient Interested in developing a meaningful, positive relationship with our son. Prior experience with ASD, ADHD, special education, behavioral support, occupational therapy, teaching, childcare, or related fields is highly valued.
