**Please let us know if you are onboarded with HASC as a respite care worker!** We need someone to keep our bouncy ten-year-old entertained. Kit (they/them) is autistic and ADHD, sweet and friendly, wickedly funny, very energetic, and stubborn as all get out. They're sometimes nonverbal and use an AAC device to help with communication. They need a little assistance with using the bathroom. Experience with special needs kids is helpful. What's most important is that you be willing to set firm, clear boundaries in a calm and supportive way. You will be picking Kit up from school (near the Brooklyn Children's Museum) at 2:30 and ideally finding some activities for them out of the house for the afternoon. Lots of outdoor time is ideal. We can share Brooklyn Children's Museum and Brooklyn Botanic Gardens membership info, or you can play at the playground or go to a library. Favorite indoor activities are art, reading, and playing dress-up. No homework. They get screen time from 4 to 6 p.m. and mostly use it to play phone games; their phone lives at home, so please bring them home by 5 so they don't miss out on game time. (Using their AAC device is always permitted even when it's otherwise "screens away time".) Kit has three parents: Chris, Josh, and Asher. At least one parent will be home all day. We have one cat; please let us know if you are allergic. Please do not wear perfume/cologne, as Asher has a scent allergy. Our apartment is up two flights of stairs. We are all fully vaccinated. Please only apply if you are fully vaccinated. We ask that you take a covid rapid test in the morning before coming to babysit. We can supply a rapid test if needed.
