Neuroaffirming Night Owl Sitter Needed! We’re looking for a night owl sitter who is comfortable staying awake all night to play with our very awake 6 year old! Maybe someone who works night shift? Or just naturally sleeps later? Our 6 year old has a circadian rhythm condition, which means that she goes to sleep later each day, going all the way around the clock every couple of weeks. The first week she’ll be mostly awake in the day, and the next mostly awake at night. I sleep on her schedule and stay up with her, but I’m launching a 4 week coaching group (mid-Aug to mid-Sep) that will mean I need to be awake in the day to host calls. We need someone to cover parts of the 10pm-8am window for 8 or 9 nights, then 3-4 nights off, then repeat until the end of the 4 weeks. It would work out to around 50-55 hours over each 8 or 9 night span. Two adults will be home while you’re here, in case of emergencies, but asleep. We’ll give you clear guidelines on when to wake us if you need to. We would want to start with a few afternoon or evening sessions first to get to know each other and build trust, before trying an overnight session. This ad is for a trial daytime session - any afternoon/evening Aug 5th-8th works. We’re a neurodivergent family, and we’re looking for someone who can follow our daughter’s lead. She has a strong, accurate sense of what she can do and what is beyond her, and we want someone who trusts that. The right person is comfortable being the responsible adult in the room, but also relates to her as a companion rather than an authority figure. What matters most to us is that she is free to explore and follow her curiosity, with an adult alongside who is genuinely interested in what she is into rather than managing or redirecting her. Your job would be to help her implement her ideas, think of strategies she could use, gather resources for her, engage in roleplay, be a sounding board, remind her to keep the volume down if she gets too loud, and get snacks. She’s had this sleep rhythm since she was little, so she’s very used to being up at night with me, playing quietly in the living room while others are sleeping. She’s imaginative and creative, and also enjoys screentime, which we don’t limit. She has celiac, so can’t eat gluten. Most of our household don’t eat gluten, so there’s not much of it around anyway, but I’ll show you what food in the kitchen she can and can’t eat. She’s very good at knowing, and checking if she’s unsure also.
