Hello! I have a master’s degree in teaching from USC and a degree in psychology from UCI. I have 12+ years working in education in the following roles: certified elementary teacher (taught 5th grade for 4 years), substitute teacher in elementary, middle, and high school, sports coach, and tutor. I can speak and understand some Spanish. I love working with kids, love music, sports, arts, and outdoor activities. Love cats and Spiderman. I’m the oldest of 5 siblings, so leadership and caregiving come naturally to me. I’m usually the one at family parties playing with and teaching the little ones. I have experience baby sitting my own nephew since he was months old (now 5). Hello my name is Hai and I am 50 years young. I come from a family of immigrants who came to the U. S. in 1975 after the Vietnam war. At that time there were 11 members in my family which included my parents and 8 siblings. I was the second youngest child. In 2008 my baby sister passed away from colon cancer when she was only 32. She was a second grade teacher at Lampson Elementary in the Orange Unified School District and loved her students. She won teacher of the year around 2005. She also loved all of our 12 nieces and nephews. We both shared a deep affection for kids. I became an uncle when I was only 10 after my first and oldest niece was born. She is now 40, and has a 2 year young son and a newborn boy. I remember holding her when she was a newborn and she fell asleep in my arms. That was the start of my love and journey with kids. Because of having so many older siblings I have a total of 12 nieces and nephews. I took care of and played with all of them when they were little, so I have many years of experience watching kids. I’m kind, patient, and nurturing. For the past 11 years I’ve been a volunteer with a nonprofit organization called Linc, where I am a mentor at an after school program for kids between kindergarten and 7th grade. I serve them snacks, help them with their homework, and play fun activities with them, including reading, art projects, and games. I won volunteer of the year in 2015. My supervisor at the program loves me and is one of my closest friends. If you need a reference or letter of recommendation from her I would be happy to oblige.
