I have been helping out with children of all ages for as long as I can remember, and still genuinely enjoy it! My experience includes nannying for over twenty years (newborns to teenagers, including multiples and siblings), household management, extensive babysitting, tutoring students from kindergarten to high school, teaching small classes, camp counseling, organizing and chaperoning birthday parties, traveling with families to help out during work trips and vacations, various volunteer work in between, plus the incomparable experience of being the oldest sister, and I became a foster parent in 2023. Having worked one-on-one with kids and managed parties of up to 30 has been great exposure to the million-and-one sides of a child, helping me better handle any situation thrown my way. I love to get down on the floor and play, but also know when to step back or step in as the adult—it’s that fine balance between play, patience, and positive direction. I am adept at figuring out which development and engagement styles work best for each individual child, with some of my personal favorite activities including outside time and walks, scavenger hunts, all kinds of crafting, puzzles, games, music, singing, mini dance parties, and reading together as much as possible. My most recent family experiences were focused on infants and toddlers, so I have an especially strong grasp of development appropriate activities for little ones. An important side note: I am vaccine conscientious and stay up-to-date on all recommended inoculations. I am certified to foster medically fragile babies and children, so prefer to work with families who are fully vaccinated (for applicable ages). If you've made it this far and think we'd mesh well, please feel free to reach out about availability and let's chat.

“My daughter loved spending the day with Abby! Abby was very understanding and flexible when I had to stay late for work. My daughter painted with Abby, went on a bike ride, did some summer worksheets, played with toys, and went to the park. Needless to say she can't wait to have Abby babysit her again. ”

Hello! My name is Jaylee and I’m 26 years old. I was born and raised in Long Beach, CA. I am the eldest of four siblings and have always taken on the responsibility of watching over my younger siblings. I have 4 years of experience babysitting for all ages. I am a teacher for Long Beach Unified School District and I earned my Master’s degree in Education. In addition, I worked for ACES, which is an autism treatment center, so I have experience working with kiddos that have special needs. Since I teach full time, I’m hoping to assist with one time services and/or I have flexibility with available hours needed in the evenings and during the summer. I am comfortable with pets, as I have a cat and dog of my own. I can cook, clean, help with school work and follow a schedule efficiently. CPR/First Aid certified for both pediatrics and adults. I understand how busy we all can get, and I would love to help out. :)

Hi! My name is Grace! I am a behavioral therapist. Working with children is my passion. My passion developed when I ironically was a child myself. It all started on November 12, 1998, the day I finally became a big sister. I was always the youngest of my four sisters and one brother. When I became a big sister, I loved it. I always wanted to help, play with, provide for, and keep my younger brother and younger sister safe. That became something that stuck with me and blossomed beyond my big sister duties. My love for working with children got deeper and more loving. I started babysitting for family and then neighbors. I worked for an after school program and eventually became a preschool teacher. My current job doesn't even feel like work. That's how much I love working with children. Also, I have a car and I'm more than willing to drive kids around! Not a problem at all!

Hello! A little about me is I have most of my experience with infants and toddlers, as the families I have babysat for are usually for younger children, but older kids are always welcome. Please let me know if you need a reference at any time! For some additional peace of mind, I have been BLS CPR certified for the last two years and am pursuing a nursing career to hopefully work in the Neonatal ICU in the near future! I’d love to give my full attention and care for up to 1-3 children. If needed, I do have my own transportation and wouldn’t mind going to the library or park. Please reach out for any concerns or questions! Additionally, I am very comfortable around dogs/cats, have grown up with them my whole life, and would love to care for them if that is the care you are looking for instead!

"When we hired Amani, we felt like we hit the jackpot. We were very lucky to find her on UrbanSitter at the beginning of school year. She was picking up kids from school, taking them to afternoon activities, helping them with assignments. She prepped food for them, helped organize their closets and keep their spaces neat and orderly. We would hire her again in a heartbeat."
