Hi! I’m Abi — a recent college grad with a strong background in childcare. I’ve spent the last few years working as a camp counselor and babysitter, and I bring both professional experience (3+ years) and a lifetime of family caretaking to the table. I’m also certified in Adult + Infant CPR and First Aid. I have always felt like working with kids has been my calling - I grew up taking care of a brother who was 12 years younger than me, which gave me hands-on experience with every stage of childhood. As a camp counselor at Steve and Kate's Camp, I learned to take care of kids between the ages of 4-12, and I was promoted to Youngest Camper Lead after my first summer, which put every child between the ages of 4-6 (typically around 15-20 per day) under my care! I am well-practiced with emotional management and conflict resolution with young kids, and I have a lot of experience summoning the kind of energy that it takes to both entertain and care for a room full of littles! I love kids of all ages and have always found it pretty easy to get along with all kinds of personalities. Hi, My name is Kaitlyn and I am 24 years old and currently a teachers aid for Chicago public schools. My duties include helping with class work, bathroom runs, lunch/snack time and recess and stepping up when the head teacher is absent. I love animals and have volunteered with them for years. I have assisted with my own grandparents as far as household care and taking them to appointments and grocery shopping etc.

I love children and am a child at heart myself. An artist, I paint, sing in a band, write, and have acted in independent films. I have primarily supported myself as a freelance graphic designer, and have been self-employed for many years, so I have vast experiences being able to handle multiple responsibilities, urgent needs from my clients (in this case, little munchkins), and be cool under pressure. I'm also a mom myself, though my own little munchkins are grown and on their own now (and taller than me!). I am very gentle, organized, and fun and have an empathetic nature. And because I otherwise work freelance, my schedule is flexible. I would so love to help care for kids near me, and would happily lead them in projects, too, or come up with creative ideas on how we could pass the time (aka--not on screens). I have led classes in drawing and painting for both kids and adults for years as well, and would have fun teaching or leading instruction in art-making or crafts (I'm also a crafter--crochet, sewing, weaving, air-dry clay, etc.) I have a cat and have also had dogs, so I'm very comfortable with pet care.
