Hello - My name is Andrea and I'm originally from Sri Lanka. I came to the US 10 years ago, after living in the Middle East and The UK as well. I completed my high school in Sri Lanka. My experience as a caregiver working with adults started in the US 10 years ago. Since then I've gained experience in Childcare and Petcare as well. My first experience was providing care for 5 years of daily living assistance and part time care and companionship for an elderly couple. I created a safe, warm and supportive home for them. For nearly 5 years , I walked beside this beautiful couple . I helped them preserve their dignity, laughter and serve so much about life from them. These two people are the exact reason I love caregiving. Caring for both of them showed me what this work is truly about. They inspired my passion for helping others. Because of the love and warmth they showed me, it became my calling. This couple are also the reason why I chose to expand my knowledge in caregiving and also studied about Pharmacy/medicine (pharmacy Tech). I also worked with another lady whose husband needed round the clock care. I was recommended to another couple by the daughter of the first couple who needed care. The daughter reached out to me stating that 'she knows someone who needs your help' and gave me the lady's number. The wife of the gentleman who needed care also called me directly to ask if I am available to care for her husband. I was hired by the lady full time, to care for her husband. I provided dedicated, compassionate support for two years until his death, which taught me so much about 'end-of-life care' My work experience with children started with my brother's two children and I still take care of them. From there, I received many part-time opportunities to care for neighbours' children. Since then, I have worked with multiple families with different faiths, different backgrounds and various childcare needs.
