Working with toddlers at a young age taught me the patience I would need working with children. Years later I'm even more passionate about children and experienced with children aged 13 months to 15 years old, but I am also comfortable with younger infants. I can do anything that is expected from changing diapers and making sure your child is fed to helping with homework and getting them ready for bed. I have been babysitting for over 10 years! I have been a counselor in training at the YMCA, helping in the summer program with specifically children from ages 5-13. This had included for me to work from 9 to 5, and even staying overtime if my advisors needed the extra help. I made sure that they were safe, playing respectfully, doing their planned activities and getting their lunch. Despite the basics, I focused on child development when working with the children, making sure to be understanding of their emotions as that was very important to me. I had to teach them about consequences to their actions with enforcing discipline, yet maintaining a respectful manner. I allowed for them to understand the importance of empathy and apologizing.
