Samuel $21 per hour for 1 child

Hi, my name is Sam! I love working with children of all ages but have the most experience with kids 3-12. I’m originally from the Pacific Northwest but moved to New York to explore job options in childcare, fashion, public relations, and the arts. I learned more about how much care, time, and attention children require after caring for a 2 and 5 year old for three years. In high school, I was a camp counselor for my school’s outdoor program and a swim instructor for children aged 3-8. I also consistently volunteered at kids basketball games, book fairs, field trips, and art classes. Post high school, I studied marketing for two years at Walla Walla Community College. I then completed the AmeriCorps NCCC program, where I traveled with a team to Texas and Colorado to assist communities in need with long term disaster recovery, mold remediation, environmental conservation, and more. One of the main reasons I love working with children is their innate love for exploration, creativity, and learning: just like myself! I believe that children need a strong, safe, and trustworthy support system to thrive and I will provide all of those qualities. I love to paint, sing, dance, read, write, craft, spend time in nature, and explore new places- all of which are traits that I directly apply when working with children. Through AmeriCorps, I was given the chance to volunteer weekly at a boys and girls clubs and that was my favorite volunteer opportunity by far. I helped the kids move through their activities, identify various emotions, set boundaries with peers by saying “stop!” or “i do not like that!”, and focusing on creating a safe space for them to feel heard, understood, and regulated. In addition to childcare, I am experienced in caring for dogs, cats, chickens, beta fish, bunnies, and geckos (my family had a lot of pets!). Additionally, having worked several customer service jobs and maintained the cleanliness of spaces throughout the years, I am highly experienced in housekeeping services and running errands.

Booked by 1 family in New York, NY

Hiiii! Im a college student who genuinely enjoys working with children. I have experience babysitting kids from 3months to 11 years old, tutoring after school. And I’m ALSO CPR certified. A day babysitting with me : I like to keep things fun while still following the family’s routine. We might start with a snack and some homework, then switch it up with arts and crafts, games, a movie, playing outside, or exploring something new( definitely excited about this). I’m big on letting kids have fun while still making sure they feel comfortable, heard, and safe. Before the parents come home, I’ll make sure everything is cleaned up and the kids are settled into whatever routine they normally have. I like to actively keep the kids busy and myself, so their interests are very important to me. Parents are updated every few hours and occasional check in when it’s my day off. Having open communication is my biggest priority. I’d describe myself as kind, outgoing, easy to talk to for the most part lol and someone who always tries to bring positive energy wherever I go. I’ve always believed the best jobs are the ones where people are genuinely happy to see you walk through the door. I want to be the sitter kids get excited about and the person parents can trust without worrying. As I’ll be moving away from my own family to start college, I know how important it is to have people around you who make you feel safe, supported, and cared for. I hope I can be that person for the families I experience New York with while building a foundation for connections. I’m currently available for after-school care, date nights, and completely available on the weekends!!! I can adjust as needed and do very early mornings but it’ll be tedious. Face time call or in person meet before official start day!!! Feel free to reach out and ask me questions and for references.

Sophie 1 review
$20 per hour for 1 child

Hi there, I'm Sophie!! I'm a lifelong nanny and babysitter living in NYC. I recently quit my office job and am in and out of the city over the next few months but looking for part time and one-off work while I'm here. I love spending time with children and can't wait to meet yours:) A little about me: For two years during a gap in my college journey I worked as a nanny for a newborn and preschooler. I was responsible for the daily care and safety of the baby boy from his very first days home. I gained countless hours of practical experience changing, bathing, feeding, sleep training, and entertaining. When needed, I transported his 3-year-old sister to and from school, and helped with household tasks including meal-planning, cooking, cleaning, laundry, and organization. Observing and facilitating both children's development over time was one of the greatest privileges of my life so far. I felt gratified every day knowing I was making a tangible difference in their lives, as well as aiding in the overall well-being of the family. I take child care very seriously and am always working to get better at my job. I'm interested in Early Childhood pedagogy and take great care in creating developmentally appropriate activities for the children I work with. In recent years, I’ve worked part time for various families with children ranging from 6 months to twelve years old and have at times been responsible for up to 4 children at a time. I'm a confident, warm, and responsible caregiver who genuinely loves spending time with children.

“Sophie is this generation’s Mary Poppins. She cared for my three year old and my newborn for over a year and made the most magical impact you could imagine. Every day was a fun new activity that she dreamed up for my three year old, and for my newborn there was no one air rather have caring for him. She leads with so much love, and is consistent, clear, and immensely capable with children. She also is a fantastic cook and baker! I could write essays about how amazing Sophie is. I wish she had not moved to New York and I’m trying to get her to move to where I am now because that’s how incredible a human being she is.”

"When we hired Amani, we felt like we hit the jackpot. We were very lucky to find her on UrbanSitter at the beginning of school year. She was picking up kids from school, taking them to afternoon activities, helping them with assignments. She prepped food for them, helped organize their closets and keep their spaces neat and orderly. We would hire her again in a heartbeat."
