Patience and responsibility: Preparing for my baby has drastically helped me develop patience, responsibility, and planning skills—all of which are crucial for caring for children. 4. Genuine interest in kids: As I prepare for motherhood, I have a genuine interest in being around and caring for children, which, from experience, can make me a more engaged and attentive babysitter, rather than someone doing this solely for work. I’ve been passionate about health and wellness for as long as I can remember and began midwifery school this January as my interest grew into Holistic Maternal Health and Midwifery care over the last couple of years. The first couple of months solidified my path, though I find myself needing to pause my education to save money for finishing school. I believe firmly in working toward a society which dignifies the lives, needs, and natural processes of both mother and child during life’s early stages.
