Hello, my name is Kylee, and I received my B. A. in Digital and Video Film Production from Maryount California University in Palos Verdes. I love and have so much fun interacting with children. They have a such a way of looking at the world and I try to always remember seeing the world through their eyes from time to time. My mom spent many years teaching dance and drama at an elementary school which I would help facilitate by watching and playing with the kids. I have babysat since I was 16 mostly between the ages of 5 months to 6 years old. I also was actively working in the nursery at my church since I was 12. Children are amazing and can teach as much as they need to learn. I would really enjoy any opportunity to continue to learn and work with the little one's to help parent's out. Another fun job I have is working as a princess, face painter, and balloon twister. It definitely keeps my imagination sharp which is helpful when it comes to play time with toddlers and elementary age children. My mom was a single parent so I know how hard it can be. If there is any way I can help alleviate some of that pressure I would be glad to offer my services.

WHO I AM: I am a college graduate who works part time in hospitality while living in Los Angeles, CA. I am 32 years old. I have applied my love for childcare for 12 years here on UrbanSitter, in addition to having been employed as a regular substitute teacher at a preschool in Burbank. I love to play and be active in my own life - getting fresh air, taking walks, and going to the beach are personal favorites. But I also appreciate that children can enjoy the comfort of staying inside to play imaginatively, read books, or build and break down and rebuild their Legos over and over again. I'm an animal lover as well with pets of my own and will be happy to attend to any of your pets. MY EXPERIENCE: Working at a children's summer camp program at Sonoma State University called EXCEL, I was an Assistant Teacher for a Stage Combat class for kids ages 9-14, so I can take rough-housers and encourage them to expel energy in a safe way. I was also an Assistant Teacher for a Theatre Improv class for kids ages 6-12, for those who love to be silly, imaginative, and in the spotlight. Since joining UrbanSitter in 2013, I have experienced vomit, accidents/bed-wetting, tantrums, night terrors, and anxiety attacks while caring for children ages 12 weeks to 12 years old, and all of these challenges were overcome with care and efficiency. I have built long-term relationships with families as their primary and regular caregiver that span over several years. But most importantly, I have had the joy of experiencing hours of genuine smiles, laughter, and growth; for this reason, I look forward to every booking. MY PHILOSOPHY: Something that I respect very highly in children is individuality. I don't believe that kids can all be categorized as “just kids” - each is very different, with unique interests, values, boundaries, and comfort zones. As your family's caregiver, my commitment is to adapt to your child's individual comfort zone and personality right from the jump, and combine that with your guidelines and goals as a parent to build a personalized childcare experience. All in all, I am happy to spend time with any child I meet - a kid's aura of acceptance and openness inspires me to give it back to them in care, support, and friendship. I am a graduate student at the University of Southern California. I went to the University of San Francisco for my undergrad, and ended up spending 7 years living in the city. Originally, I am from Texas and I have a younger brother and sister, and am older than most of my cousins so I have a lot of experience with kids and teenagers. I also mentored at Corey Elementary school during my junior year of high and at Boles Jr. High school during my senior year of high school.
