Hello! I'm Liz, and I have been working with children and families for over 25 years in many different settings—as a babysitter, live-in nanny, tutor, after-school and summer program leader, scout camp staff, in-patient and out-patient mental health treatment provider, facilitating parenting classes, and as a therapist specializing in youth and families. I also grew up caring for my four younger brothers, as well as many nieces and nephews, so childcare has always been a natural part of my life. Alongside childcare, I have provided professional dog and cat sitting, cared for my own pets (including a bearded dragon!), and supported families with household tasks and cleaning. For example, I worked weekly for a family in Palo Alto for eight months, helping keep their home clean and welcoming. I especially enjoy organizing and home decor. With a background in social work and mental health, I strive to create a safe, affirming space for children and families, and I am experienced in supporting LGBTQ+ and neurodivergent individuals. I hold a Master’s degree in Social Work and a minor in Music, and I enjoy incorporating creativity, patience, and structure into the care I provide. Personally, I grew up in a small mountain town in Northern Utah, but have now called the Bay Area home for the past 15 years. Outside of work, I love rock climbing, reading, playing guitar and singing, art, tabletop games, and spending time at the beach. I’m also bilingual in English and conversational/intermediate-advanced Spanish. I’m a proud parent to two wonderful kids—an 19-year-old who lives in Utah and a 6-year-old who just started 1st grade. With my youngest now in school and spending part of the week with the other parent, I have more flexibility in my schedule to provide reliable care and support for other families. I understand every child is unique, and it is important to learn their routines, needs, and interests. I am a recent graduate with a Master of Science in Geography, and have had experience teaching (and caring for) kids from elementary school age to freshman year of college. I am passionate about childhood education and helping kids develop their interpersonal skills. I find it almost magical watching children discover, learn, and apply new things to their everyday life! Although my experience hasn’t followed one continuous timeline, children have been ever-present in my life through a variety of professional and familial settings. I've spent over a decade caring for children across a wide age range, from infants through early teens. My childcare experience began when I cared for my younger sister from ages 11 to 18, additionally I was a summer camp counselor for three consecutive years, first when I was 15. Since then, I've worked as a live-in nanny for multiple families. I spent one year with a 4-year-old boy, and another year I also cared for three girls (ages 8, 10, and 12) in another live-in position, helping with everything from homework to activities, driving them places, and building a supportive home environment. For the past five years, I've worked as a babysitter for children ranging from ages 2 to 13. I'm comfortable with bedtimes, meal prep, homework help, activities, and handling the day-to-day needs of different age groups.
