Hello, my life has always revolved around children. I worked with my local school district for over 20 years as a Chid Aide. The program was designed to improve a child's self-esteem and improve comfortability in a social setting. This was done through interactive play sessions where a child can truly be themselves. Apart from raising my own three children, I have also worked at a daycare providing a safe and educational environment for up to 12 children. Nutritional cooking is also a big part of my life and something I enjoy sharing. My passion is caring for children in fun, educational, musical, and artistic ways.
“Great experience with Alexandra. Very attentive and kind. Would book again. ”
**Elementary School Art Teacher new to SF!** Hello! My name is Amanda, I'm 31, I am a creative person who loves children! I've spent the past four years working as an elementary school art teacher in Massachusetts, and before that, I was a nanny in NYC with experience caring for children of all ages. A bit about me: I practice yoga and tai chi, I'm learning Chinese and Urdu, I study psychology and philosophy with the intention of being an existential psychotherapist for adults and an art therapist for children. I started my school's first meditation club, and I host events for women to gather to make art and connect. I love talking with kids, listening to them, asking questions, and seeing the world through their eyes. I'm also able to bring art supplies and give fun, hands-on art lessons, like jelly printing! As a teacher and caregiver, I focus on creating a safe, imaginative, and mindful environment where kids can express themselves freely and feel deeply cared for.
“Amanda babysat my 3-year-old for about three hours and did a wonderful job. She arrived on time, engaged with him right away, and kept him happily occupied the entire time. She made mealtime fun by turning it into a game, took him for a stroll, and played with him. My child seemed very comfortable with her and really enjoyed his time. I would definitely recommend her and would be happy to hire her again.”
I have been working with children for about 25 years. I have experience working with multiple children at a time and children different ages, including infants. Working with children has always been my passion. I am very energetic and love taking kids for walks, to the park, library, enjoy doing art projects, read books and just love watching kids grow and watch them learn new things. I also speak German and Bosnia . I am a mother of two school aged children. My son is 17 and daughter is 15 years old. I have worked with many families and therefore have many references. I am available for occasional evening and weekend babysitting.
Kind, nurturing, dependable mom 😊 here. New born to teenagers, I've been there and cared for them all. Experienced with ASD, ADHD, and deaf children. Multiple children, twins and care at events. Skilled at organization, household management, travel planning and project management. CPR, First Aid, Fire, Safety, Earthquake Response Trained / Cert. Non-smoker. TDAP, MMR, Flu up to date; as well as all other current vaccines. I enjoy teaching my autistic grandson, hanging out with my deaf daughter, or working on an engineering project. 🤗 I can sew on buttons and make minor repairs in clothes. I am fantastic at fabric paint, arts and crafts, etc. I like organizing, cleaning and cooking. Used to live on a farm growing up, there is no pet in your home that would intimidate me. * Special note: I am a living kidney donor to my friends son in 2013. I prefer not look after children who are very ill. If your child is running a fever, vomiting, or has just begun a raspy cough I would expect you pass me by; I will not show up to your home in this manner as well. Thank you for honoring my request. "UrbanSitter is my go-to for quality sitters! I can book weeks ahead of time or easily find a same-day sitter when in a bind. I even hired a part-time nanny during a daycare transition. Customer service is helpful and babysitters respond in a timely manner."
