Hi. I grew up in Marin and just moved back after living in Boston for ten years. I have worked with children in many different capacities since high school. I have worked as a camp counselor, babysitter, and teacher in a non classroom setting. Most recently I worked at the Museum of Science in Boston as well as an attendant in the child care room in a gym. One of the hardest parts of moving back to California is leaving the families I had been babysitting for years. I am comfortable working with all age groups. I have worked with infants as young as nine days old to teens, though most of my work has been with children between three months and ten years. My experience has taught me that nothing is more exhilarating, rewarding, or exhausting then working with children. I have found that a good sense of humor and open communication with parents is essential. Having people trust me to look after their child/children is a great responsibility that I take seriously. A bit about me. I am an avid reader. Like many people, I love to travel. I am currently on a quest to visit as many national parks as I can - 54 thus far. I am always happiest when I can get outside though I must stay vigilant about not getting burned. I am a vegetarian who loves to bake with varying levels of success. Hi my name is Cindy, I am 25!! I am Bilingual. I’ve lived in Marin county my entire life. I went to Novato high school so I’m very familiar with the area. I also graduated from The school of Paul Mitchell in Sacramento to get my cosmetology license. During high school I’ve volunteered at walker creek, elementary schools for walk-a-thons or after school activities, babysat for parents who had night time GED classes at Marin Oaks high school. I have 3 younger siblings and a older sister to. I have lots of experience with infants all the way to 16 yr olds! I’ve babysat for 6 years now and have many great references. I enjoy doing outdoor activities , watching movies, playing board games and arts & crafts! I work full time at a highly regarded Montessori in Corte Madera, caring for 18-36 month-olds and also have experience in a classroom with ages 4-6. I hold an AMI assistant to infancy diploma from Montessori Northwest. If you’re struggling with toilet training, language, sleeping, behavioral issues ect, I have plenty of skills and strategies to share. In a non teacher role, I have lots of experience with all ages. I love being outside and playing sports. I can coach basketball, football, swimming, and skating on a meaningful level however, I’m happy to facilitate any kind of sport, craft, or activity. I'm a Bay Area native and I was a childcare provider and nanny for over 10 years in San Francisco before I began my teaching certification program. I really enjoy working with families and still keep in close contact with the last family I worked with. In the past, I've also worked for the Y.M.C.A. as a coach and teacher for children in their camp program. I love doing arts and crafts activities, and going on outside adventures with kids to parks, museums (California Academy of Sciences is a great one!), and libraries. Most of my past jobs working with families were referrals from other families I worked with, so this is my first time using an online site to apply for positions. My certifications are in Special Education EC-12th grade, E.S.L. EC-12th grade, English Language Arts and Reading 7th-12th grade, and General Education EC-6th grade. While working on my credential I completed internship hours in an elementary school classroom working with children on the Autism Spectrum. My experience in the internship was so inspiring that I decided to make Special Education a focus in teaching. I'm taking this semester off from teaching so I’m mostly tutoring, but also available for occasional babysitting.
