Back on US and ready to hang! I approach care with the intent of meeting kids and families where they are. To me, this means understanding and engaging with a person based on their current situation, needs, abilities, or emotional state. By doing so, I develop relationships with care, emotional consideration, trust, and humor. I love discovering what excites kids and engaging with them through activities that spark their interests. This might include playing their favorite games (or inventing new ones), reading books, doing art projects, playing outside, going on walks, and more. I genuinely enjoy spending time with children, and that enthusiasm shines through in my interactions. Outside of professional care work, I am an arts administrator with a focus on dance and performance. I have produced dance festivals, performance series, and fundraising events. Recently, I got into the puppet biz—I co-directed my first puppetry piece in 2024 and am currently developing a puppet festival for summer 2025. I am also a collective member and coordinator with the Chicago Childcare Collective (ChiChiCo)—a group of volunteers who support the participation of parents, especially mothers, in racial and economic justice work. I am willing to explore some of the new services, such as pet care, US have added since my hiatus. I grew up with Great Danes and love critters! Policies & Guidelines Cancellations 1. Hello there, parents and families! My name is Emily, and I love and live to work with youth. I have been trusted with the sacred work of caring for children for nearly 20 years, and I've worked with every age group from 0-21 in various educational, extracurricular, and caregiving capacities. Some of these positions include teaching high school social studies AND working as a SpEd paraprofessional in Chicago from 2[removed]; teaching music classes to youth 0-12 in both Honolulu and Chicago; tutoring and mentoring at-risk elementary school students in school and after school in San Jose, CA; teaching Tiny Tots swim classes to young children in Mission Viejo, CA; and assistant teaching preschool in Evanston, IL. I’ve also been a full-time nanny for various families on and off of UrbanSitter. I love to read, write, sing, play piano/guitar, bike, hike, travel, and above all, LEARN!! The most exciting part of life to me is getting to learn new things—because there will never be a shortage of those, no matter your age. That’s why working with kids is so fulfilling—they are constantly learning, processing, and absorbing the world around them, and it’s an honor and a privilege to guide them through that process. As a caregiver, I always put safety first--no question. I am sensitive, intuitive, and considerate of the unique needs of all young people as individuals. I have a "warm demander" approach to discipline, using firm and consistent boundaries with children while maintaining a kind demeanor. You’ll tell in the way I'll engage with your children from the moment I meet them that I truly care about their personal, academic, and social/emotional development. I can’t wait to meet you and your littles! Send me a message and I’ll get back to you in a flash ✨
“Emily was a wonderful sitter. She arrived prepared with art material and ideas for play, was a great listener and connected easily with our 2 and 4 year old kiddos. I would definitely hire her again, as she has a great enthusiasm, is attentive and 'got' the different personalities of our kids. She made sure to get the instructions we had for the day, and ask any clarifications. The kids had a great time with her!”
Hi! My name is Natalya and I am a Research assistant and student at UIC. I work as a Nursing tech at Northwestern twice a week. I am primarily available for occasional babysitting on weekend days and week nights! I’ve worked with high school students previously for two years in Chicago and for a year in Madrid, Spain. I am the second oldest of five girls so I have been taking care of younger siblings my whole life. I began babysitting about 12 years ago. I also worked as a nanny for one family for four years in college. I am hoping to eventually become a pediatrician! In my free time I love to read, run, and drink good coffee or tea.
“Was very friendly and helped out to put the baby to bed as we were leaving!”
