Hi! I work for DC Public Library and have been working in libraries for over 7 years now and I love it! I'm happy to get back to sitting occasionally to spend time engaging in fun activities like park visits, imaginative play, reading, kid-friendly cooking, and music/art! I don't have kids of my own so getting to spend time and care for others is a joy and privilege that I don't take for granted. I enjoy being a caregiver and sharing the present moment with kids. It feels less like work and more like an escape from my daily routine! My schedule varies as I work every other weekend and one full weekend a month (both Saturday and Sunday). I also have Thursday mornings off if anyone needs help then! I've worked with children aged 1 to 12 and infants (3 months+) locally since 2011. Before DC, I went abroad to au pair for a family with two young children (2 and 4 years old when I arrived). My duties have included: Meal prep/ Feeding (bottles, babyfood etc.) Light housekeeping Drop offs/ Pick ups Caring for sick toddlers and infants Medicine Adminstration Activities and Outings Supervision and chaperoning in various settings (home and away) Tutoring and homework help Help caring for pets (dogs and cats) My longest full-time childcare job was working abroad as an au pair. I stayed with the family for over a year and a half, working afternoons, all day Wednesday (off-school day), and the occasional evening, weekend, or vacation sitting.
“Aimee connected with our girls right away. She was on-time, and had great communication throughout. Would definitely recommend!”
Hello, I'm a current Middle School English teacher. I have babysitting experience since 2017 on the site and before. (Mild Allergy to Cats, usually solved with open windows or with having the cat in another room or even if the cat is generally shy).
“She was great with my baby! She kept him engaged and on schedule and he really liked her ”
Hello families! My name is Viviana, and I’m a caring, patient, and reliable nanny with experience working with children of different ages in both educational and home settings. I enjoy creating a safe, loving, and positive environment where children feel happy, supported, and encouraged to learn and grow. I’m organized, responsible, and love engaging kids through play, creativity, routines, and meaningful interactions. Families describe me as warm, trustworthy, and attentive, and I always do my best to care for children with kindness, respect, and genuine love. I would be happy to support your family and become someone your children feel comfortable and safe with every day.
“She is kind and patient. Personable too :)”
I finished LPN (Licenced Practical Nurse). I have years of experiences working with an infant, toddler, and school aged children. Kids are adorable. I don't have my own, but I have several nieces and nephews I babysit and love as my own kids. I love my family so much, they're my everything.
“Laurelle was such a lovely lady and wonderful caregiver. She was promptly on time and immediately engaged with my 4 month old. Laurelle was comfortable with my lab mix, Lincoln and I was happy to leave my little family in her hands. Hopefully she will be available the next time I need help as she is incredibly kind and got along amazingly well with my little one.”
Hi, my name is Aina and I am a third year at George Washington University. I am currently studying abroad in Colombia and will be back in DC mid January. I am normally looking for occasional babysitting opportunities with children ranging from 2-12 years old. When it comes to child care I have been babysitting for two years in the Atlanta and D.C. area. In addition, I have one full year's worth of experience being an after school teacher for kindergartners and first graders at East Valley Elementary school in Marietta, Georgia. At that job, myself along with a co teacher were responsible for upwards of 20 students each day and in a school environment, that was quite manageable, and I know it'd be an even more enjoyable experience if I had more attention to give to fewer children. I also have college experience part time babysitting with multiple families, three of them who I worked with on a consistent basis. I have lots of energy to give when it comes to caring for children and I can find creative ways to keep them engaged and entertained. Working with children is rewarding for me because I remember how much the adults, beyond my parents helped create wonderful memories during my childhood. I hope to provide that same positive impact for others. I used to own a dog for many years and I am comfortable babysitting in pet households so I also have experience with pet care.

"UrbanSitter is my go-to for quality sitters! I can book weeks ahead of time or easily find a same-day sitter when in a bind. I even hired a part-time nanny during a daycare transition. Customer service is helpful and babysitters respond in a timely manner."
