Hi there! I'm Valerie, a graduate student and experienced sitter in South Slope. I'm currently pursuing my Master's in Art History at Hunter College. This past spring, I graduated from Wesleyan University with a B.A. in Art History (and with High Honors, induction into Phi Beta Kappa, and Departmental Awards). I was born and raised in New York. I'm available for occasional work during the week, including evening babysitting, dog sitting, house sitting, and help with cleaning and home organization. I have experience working with toddlers and school-aged children. I am 92NY certified for babysitting. I also have plenty of experience with dog and cat sitting. I grew up immersed in the arts -- especially visual art and theater -- and am a classically trained pianist. Hi! I'm Haneen — a product designer with a background in architecture, and someone who has genuinely always loved being around kids. I grew up looking after younger siblings and cousins, and have helped out friends and family as a babysitter over the years, so I'm comfortable with the rhythms of caring for little ones even if it's not my full-time world. I'm creative by nature and training, and I'd love to bring that into time spent with kids, teaching them to draw, paint, work through a puzzle, or just make something fun with whatever's around. I speak Arabic fluently too, which kids tend to find pretty exciting. I'm available part-time and happy to work with most age groups, I don't have a specialty, but I'm attentive, patient, and good at reading what a kid needs in the moment. One small thing: I'm allergic to cats, so homes with cats aren't a great fit, but dogs are totally fine by me!
