I am a 53 year old woman who loves to work with children, seniors and pets. When my children were young, I owned a daycare in my home, for infants, up to school age children. I have raised 2 children of my own, who are both wonderful adults now. For the last 7 months I have been a live in caregiver for an 83 year old, disabled woman. I truly enjoyed caring for this lady, but have moved and looking to watch children again. I have a heart for helping others. Hello! I am a nature-based early childhood educator. I recently moved to Nashville from California, where I worked as a lead teacher at Northeast Los Angeles Forest School for three years. I am originally from Wisconsin and have a deep love for the outdoors and the growing movement in education towards incorporating more opportunities for free play in nature. My work is informed and inspired by Reggio-Emilia and Montessori pedagogy, David Sobel, and Piaget. I am passionate about supporting children as they explore the wide world, and I enjoy finding engaging ways to facilitate happy, healthy development. I am a strong believer in the benefits of emergent curriculum and learning through play, and I have experience developing curriculum to support this. I have a bachelor’s degree in social work from the University of Wisconsin, Madison and I am currently working on an MS in psychology from Southern New Hampshire University with a speciality in child and adolescent development. During my senior year of college, I had an internship working at a respite center for children ages 6 and under with special needs, and had the opportunity to develop and implement individualized therapy programs for kids. Prior to this, I spent four years caring for children as young as six weeks and as old as twelve at a child care center in my home town in Wisconsin. I am Wilderness CPR certified, and I also have a valid license and experience transporting children. Currently, I am looking for part time work while I focus more intensely on my graduate degree.
