A little background about me, I have a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology with a minor in Early Childhood Education and worked for the Department of Education as a paraprofessional and substitute teacher for 10+ years. I am currently a full time student, studying Radiologic Technology, which reflects my passion for helping others. I have gained experience working with children and families of diverse age groups such as newborns, infants, toddlers and teens in different settings. Their needs are completely different as well allowing me to be flexible with all age groups and their individualities. I also have personal experience in caring for children as I have 3 siblings myself. Growing up caring for my siblings was a daily routine that I honestly grew to love and enjoy. I am naturally drawn to and am comfortable with children for I am open to listening to what they have in mind and making those things come to life, if possible. I am very interactive and hands on; I enjoy playing games such as board games or having dance parties, reading and acting things out and hide and seek, etc. I also like to explore children's creative side with face painting and arts & crafts which I find children love and enjoy. Whatever honestly makes them happy and keeps them safe. I’m bilingual in both English and Spanish, which helps me connect with diverse families. I also have my own pet, so I’m very comfortable with animals and happy to help with any pet care. Whether it’s playtime, homework help, or keeping routines on track, I’m here to make your life easier and give you peace of mind. Hi there! I'm Karina, a recent NYU graduate offering child and pet care! As the eldest in my family I've been working with kids since I was little and love to work with the PreK-12 age range. I also work as an after school lead tutor with the NYPL during the school year and can help that same age range with any homework subject. I can work with children individually or with as many as 5 kids at a time. I speak fluent Spanish and intermediate French. My goal with children is to inspire a love of learning and sense of wonder in the world around them and to do so through fostering curiosity, empathy, and a mutual sense of respect. Additionally, I'm often the first person my friends call up to petsit and am comfortable with cats and dogs, including those with medical needs.
