As the second oldest of seven children, I have spent most of my life caring for kids. From ages 17 to 19, I was the sole caregiver for my two youngest siblings, then ages 0 to 4, due to an illness in the family. I started babysitting at a young age and quickly built a reputation for being especially good with young children. I went on to work in K-12 summer camps for four summers, then spent two years as a program leader in a K-8 public school afterschool program. During my thirteen years as a flight attendant, I completed annual first aid training, including infant and child CPR and Heimlich maneuver certification. I live in Cole Valley with my small, perfect dog Lola and my partner, who works at a tech start up. I'm reliable, responsible, and very flexible with scheduling. I hold an undergraduate degree in Global Studies and am currently transitioning into education and social impact work. I stay active in the community through food insecurity and youth literacy volunteer programs, as an avid reader, I love to spread my love of books to the next generation! I am a deeply curious and empathic person who believes in meeting someone where they are at and always listening first. Hi I’m Alexis and I’m from Oakland! I am currently taking a gap year from UC Berkeley while getting my certifications to become a certified personal trainer. During my free time I enjoy weight lifting, reading, baking, and anything music related. I also love animals, especially dogs :) I have 2+ years experience working with school aged kids through internships such as summer camps and at Highland Hospital. Moreover, I have 1.5 years experience as a babysitter/nanny. I’m also the oldest sibling in my family with a pretty big age gap between my siblings and I, so I grew up taking care of them very often! Hi I’m Maddie and I currently work as an outdoor educator making the transition to classroom teaching this fall. I’ve worked in various childcare environments, finding the most reward from programs that prioritize outdoor experience, hands-on learning, creativity, and play. My interest in working with kids began in high school through various summer nannying and babysitting gigs, support at local in-home daycares and eventually with a local preschool. I’ve spent the past 5 years working in more structured outdoor-based school-year programs and summer camps. Within all of these roles I’ve worked with children of all ages, needs, backgrounds and experiences, allowing for me to have a deep understanding of how to support each child as an individual. I really appreciate being able to connect with all kids, and find great connection with people on the spectrum, or with behavioral needs. When working with kids, I love to find a balance between being energetic and silly with them while still maintaining respect and expectations. As an individual I could be described as silly, loud, and caring, I love spending time outside, doing all sorts of crafts and listening to live music. Hello! I have been working with kids for the past 4 years now and I absolutely love it! I have the most experience with infants and toddlers but I still have ample experience with kids up to 12. I worked at a daycare for the past three years primarily with ages 6 weeks - 3 years but I also worked as a swim instructor with kids up to 12. I love crafting and playing games! I am comfortable with diapers, potty training, and breast milk/formula. I can watch 3-5 kids at once depending on the ages and I am also fully vaccinated.
