Hi! My name is Asiah, and I’m a proud graduate of Cal State East Bay with a degree in Sociology. My passion for working with children stems from being a big sister to five siblings — helping them grow and being someone they looked up to made me realize how much I love caring for and guiding young minds. Over the years, I’ve built hands-on experience in various child-centered environments, including daycares, elementary schools, and recreation centers. Since 2017, I’ve worked with UrbanSitter, building lasting relationships with families who continue to request me. I’ve supported children through daily routines, including meal prep, school drop-offs and pick-ups, homework help, and enrichment activities. During the pandemic, I adapted to meet new challenges by supervising virtual learning, ensuring kids stayed on track academically while still having fun. Currently, I work in an after-school program with 6th to 8th graders, where I lead both an enrichment class focused on art projects and an active class that involves outdoor games and sports. Whether it’s helping with homework, planning creative activities, or just being a positive role model, I find real joy in being part of a child's growth. *I have 15 months' experience as a nanny for a family Los Angeles. It was a positive, loving, respectful, and all-around fun household, and I was lucky to be a part of their family for so long! I cared for a girl and a boy (now aged 2 and 4) from 7am-4pm, Monday-Friday, driving them to and from preschool, took them to the library for story time, walked to the park with the double stroller, baked and cooked with them, worked with them in the vegetable garden, and provided consistency with the family's potty training approach. I also facilitated mealtimes, naptime, and often bathtime and bedtime as well. I adopted the family's conflict resolution strategies as my own, because they work well for everybody involved.
