Now I live in Berkeley with my daughter and have worked as a custodian of both children and elderly for the past 15 years.Both my own granddaughter and the little boy I have looked after for the past 18 months have been 2mos-2yr old during the time of my care. I took care of two children together once a week. They will no longer need my help as the girl goes to pre-school, so I'm looking for another job / family I can work for. I respect all styles of parental care and focus on providing lots of love and affection and engaging children in games, imaginary games, books, and so on. I love to play them outdoors and use every opportunity to communicate with others. I am a good chef and prepare fresh, healthy dishes for the child every day. It can also help with light housework. I love kids and they love me. As a carer, I am responsible for my work, creating a safe environment for the children and making them happy. Also, I am active, intuitive, empathetic and very organized. Apart from English, which I speak at a comfortable level, I am fluent in Italian, Bulgarian and know intermediate level Russian. I would love to find a new family to help and have a relatively flexible schedule (prefer Mon-Fri, but could also consider weekend days as an alternative). Hi there, My Name is Gennaro, and I have been guiding youth in traditional, experiential, and special education for just under a decade. My passion is working with children to empower them towards better understanding of themselves and their ability to lead. The majority of my experience working with youth has been through work as an Outdoor Education Guide, where I would lead groups of 10-12 young people in the wilderness for periods up to 14 days. During my years of experience in this kind of work, I was responsible for the mental, emotional, and physical well being of young people in extreme environments. These experiences also allowed me to develop an encompassing sense of empathy, care, and risk management for the young people I have been lucky enough to spend time with. Through my work as an Outdoor Educator, I also was trained as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT). I currently am in the Master of Social Work program at San Francisco State University. My other recent experience has been working as a Counselor/Teacher/Mentor at a credit recovery high school in Oakland called the Emiliano Zapata Street Academy, where I now serve on the Board.
