Catherine $18 per hour for 1 child

I'm originally native to Fort Lauderdale, FL, where I lived with my single mother. She's been a teacher for 18 years now, having taught and looked after children as young as newborns and as old as middle school. This naturally transitioned into caring for these children outside of school hours - and when she acquired a second job, she passed these babysitting and tutoring opportunities on to me, whom the parents had come to know and trust. All throughout my teens I've cared for and tutored a revolving door of children of all ages. As soon as I entered high-school, I began to work for summer and winter camps as a co-counselor, loving the trips and the events and how every day felt like an adventure. I then graduated high-school and moved to New Haven, CT to pursue my scientific passions at Yale University, where I majored in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology. It was at Yale that I discovered a deep love of medicine, and more than that, of helping people and seeing the change one person can make in the life of another. On my summers off, though, I continued to assume the role of a mentor and counselor during Yale Summer Session, becoming a resource for students both younger and older than myself. I've worked and volunteered in many positions relating to science, healthcare, and wellness, all with the goal of one day entering the field of medicine. I've helped treat and educate patients of all ages, old and young, working to make healthcare and medical services available to all. Having recently graduated, I'm now working towards becoming certified as a CNA and EMT, so that I might explore the extremely diverse roles in healthcare, and gain a better understanding of what kind of role I'd like to eventually pursue. In my training for both, I've done many clinical rotations in both nursing homes and ambulances, getting a hands-on feel for both day-to-day care and emergency situations - skills that have translated well into caring for others.

Marianne $28 per hour for 1 child
Booked by 1 family in Seymour, CT

Hi families :) My name is Marianne. Over the past 10 years I’ve had experience as a both a babysitter and family assistant. I have had the opportunity to work with many wonderful families through both Care.com and several respected childcare agencies throughout Connecticut. I truly enjoy building meaningful connections with families and becoming someone both parents and children can feel comfortable trusting and relying on. My experience includes long-term childcare, occasional babysitting, overnight care, emergency coverage, pet sitting, and day-to-day family assistance. I have cared for both cats and dogs during vacations, overnight stays, and unexpected situations when families needed extra support. I would describe myself as warm, reliable, flexible, patient, and highly dependable. I’m also a strong communicator and believe open, honest communication is very important when working closely with families. Parents appreciate that I am organized, attentive, easy to work with, and always willing to help wherever needed. Whether I’m caring for children, helping with errands and household support as a family assistant, or caring for pets, my goal is always to create a safe, calm, and supportive environment where families feel comfortable, supported, and at ease.

Clara $20 per hour for 1 child

My name is Clara and I have been a nanny/baby sitter for 10 years and I would love to share my experience and knowledge with your family. I truly feel honored and privileged to have a unique job that allows me to work with so many wonderful families. I am currently working part time with 2 families; the first has a newborn and 2 year old twin girls: the other has a 2 year old boy with a set of 12 month old fraternal boy/girl twins. I also do school pickup, after school care, and date nights. I have been with these families for the past few years, but I would love to find another position to supplement my current positions. I am an energetic, creative, fun, outgoing, caring, and generous individual who puts the safety and happiness of my charges first and foremost. This allows the parents to go about their day/date night with the utmost confidence that their children are in the best of care at all times. I have backgrounds in art, drama, music, and early childhood education. I have an abundance of references from both current and former employers, which will be at your complete disposal. I love games of all sorts, reading, outdoor activities, baking, arts and crafts, and imaginative play. I also enjoy getting the children involved in daily educational activities and the occasional science experiment. P.S I'm a huge fan of dogs and cats!!!

"We absolutely LOVE Isa — our family was so fortunate to have found her through UrbanSitter. I'm a first-time mom, and it took me a long time to find a full-time nanny I could trust to care for our sweet infant boy. Our boy connected with her immediately, and we couldn't have asked for anyone else to care for him. Her calming presence was also perfect for parents like us who work from home. We feel so lucky UrbanSitter helped us find someone who has truly become a part of our family."

"I was so stressed about finding a part-time nanny for my 14-month-old son, who has moderate separation anxiety and hadn't been left with anyone but family before, but we were both immediately at ease in Buhay's presence. Her empathy and commitment to understanding child development are apparent in every interaction I've witnessed between her and my toddler. I feel very lucky to have found her."

"Erna watched our now 5 year old daughter and 3 year old son for a few years. She is punctual, responsible, honest, and playful. What we appreciated most was that she was thoughtful in ensuring that we had a little break; for example, when the kids were clingy, she was able to divert their attention with games or songs or walks to the park. We felt very comfortable leaving our kids with Erna because of her caring nature and experience that spans a decade (including being a live-in nanny)."
