Hi, I’m Donna! I’ve been caring for children for over 20 years, and I’ve always loved being part of a child’s growth and development. I have a lot of experience with newborns, infants, toddlers, and young children, including caring for children from newborn through age 5. I spent three years working in a daycare infant room and two years in the toddler room, so I’m very comfortable with everything from newborn routines and bottle feeding to naps, playtime, early learning, and keeping busy little ones engaged. I’m CPR certified and certified in Early Childhood Development, and I’m someone who is patient, nurturing, dependable, and genuinely enjoys getting to know each child’s personality. I love creating a safe and comfortable environment where children can learn, play, and simply be themselves. To me, this means understanding and engaging with a person based on their current situation, needs, abilities, or emotional state. By doing so, I develop relationships with care, emotional consideration, trust, and humor. I love discovering what excites kids and engaging with them through activities that spark their interests. This might include playing their favorite games (or inventing new ones), reading books, doing art projects, playing outside, going on walks, and more. Outside of professional care work, I am an arts administrator with a focus on dance and performance. I have produced dance festivals, performance series, and fundraising events. Recently, I got into the puppet biz—I co-directed my first puppetry piece in 2024 and am currently developing a puppet festival for summer 2025. I am also a collective member and coordinator with the Chicago Childcare Collective (ChiChiCo)—a group of volunteers who support the participation of parents, especially mothers, in racial and economic justice work. I am willing to explore some of the new services, such as pet care, US have added since my hiatus. I grew up with Great Danes and love critters! Policies & Guidelines Cancellations 1. Please provide at least 24 hours' notice for cancellations. I set aside this time specifically for your booking, and last-minute cancellations prevent me from connecting with other families. 2. If you no-show, I ask to be compensated for the full booking. Minimum Booking Requirement 1. I prefer a minimum booking of four hours. 2. Since I plan my time and budget around scheduled hours, I kindly request payment for the full booking, even if you arrive home early. Interviews 1. Please avoid scheduling interviews on Friday and Saturday evenings. 2. Phone interviews are preferred. Safety All firearms and weapons in the home must be safely locked and secured. COVID Precautions 1. I will remain masked indoors. 2. During sleep hours, I may request to unmask depending on your comfort level and proximity to the child.
