Hello there, parents and families! My name is Emily, and I love and live to work with youth. I have been trusted with the sacred work of caring for children for nearly 20 years, and I've worked with every age group from 0-21 in various educational, extracurricular, and caregiving capacities. Some of these positions include teaching high school social studies AND working as a SpEd paraprofessional in Chicago from 2[removed]; teaching music classes to youth 0-12 in both Honolulu and Chicago; tutoring and mentoring at-risk elementary school students in school and after school in San Jose, CA; teaching Tiny Tots swim classes to young children in Mission Viejo, CA; and assistant teaching preschool in Evanston, IL. I’ve also been a full-time nanny for various families on and off of UrbanSitter. I love to read, write, sing, play piano/guitar, bike, hike, travel, and above all, LEARN!! The most exciting part of life to me is getting to learn new things—because there will never be a shortage of those, no matter your age. That’s why working with kids is so fulfilling—they are constantly learning, processing, and absorbing the world around them, and it’s an honor and a privilege to guide them through that process. As a caregiver, I always put safety first--no question. I am sensitive, intuitive, and considerate of the unique needs of all young people as individuals. I have a "warm demander" approach to discipline, using firm and consistent boundaries with children while maintaining a kind demeanor. You’ll tell in the way I'll engage with your children from the moment I meet them that I truly care about their personal, academic, and social/emotional development. I can’t wait to meet you and your littles! Send me a message and I’ll get back to you in a flash ✨

Emily was a wonderful sitter. She arrived prepared with art material and ideas for play, was a great listener and connected easily with our 2 and 4 year old kiddos. I would definitely hire her again, as she has a great enthusiasm, is attentive and 'got' the different personalities of our kids. She made sure to get the instructions we had for the day, and ask any clarifications. The kids had a great time with her!

Hello! (Fully vaccinated for COVID-19 as of 2/2/21) I love working with kids, and have professionally worked with children from toddler age to teens for over 8 years now! I have 5 years experience at a summer day camp back in my home town of Minneapolis, teaching classes from art to gymnastics for children ages 3-11. In addition, I worked with a program called JumpStart at DePaul University, where me and 4 other college students were placed in a preschool classroom on the west side of Chicago to provide teaching assistant support. During JumpStart I learned a lot of early childhood education skills and techniques, and could assist with homework or literacy skills for your children when I care for them. I enjoy reading, painting, staying active, dance, and exploring Chicago. I also have nannied for a family from this site from June 2017 until June 2019. I have babysat since I was 11 years old watching the neighborhood kids, and would love to help out by being a babysitter for you. :)

Drew came on time and very approachable and fun. Quickly got along with my child. Hopefully will see her soon.

"We absolutely LOVE Isa — our family was so fortunate to have found her through UrbanSitter. I'm a first-time mom, and it took me a long time to find a full-time nanny I could trust to care for our sweet infant boy. Our boy connected with her immediately, and we couldn't have asked for anyone else to care for him. Her calming presence was also perfect for parents like us who work from home. We feel so lucky UrbanSitter helped us find someone who has truly become a part of our family."

"I was so stressed about finding a part-time nanny for my 14-month-old son, who has moderate separation anxiety and hadn't been left with anyone but family before, but we were both immediately at ease in Buhay's presence. Her empathy and commitment to understanding child development are apparent in every interaction I've witnessed between her and my toddler. I feel very lucky to have found her."

"Erna watched our now 5 year old daughter and 3 year old son for a few years. She is punctual, responsible, honest, and playful. What we appreciated most was that she was thoughtful in ensuring that we had a little break; for example, when the kids were clingy, she was able to divert their attention with games or songs or walks to the park. We felt very comfortable leaving our kids with Erna because of her caring nature and experience that spans a decade (including being a live-in nanny)."
