Hi! I'm Debbie. I am a pediatric occupational therapist that specializes in providing services in English, Spanish or a mix of both. I am founder and owner of Estrellita OT. For over 13 years, I have worked with children and youth in a variety of capacities such as: camp counselor, babysitter, museum educator, tutor, and health educator. I absolutely love working with children and teens, and am seeking to support young people in a caretaking position as supplemental income. With my educational & professional experience, I have an in-depth understanding of child development and research-backed childcare methods. With my experience as an occupational therapist, I have expertise in understanding how a child's daily routines and meaningful activities have an impact on their individual wellbeing, which significantly informs the way I provide childcare. For example, I strategically use educational play ( a child's meaningful activity) to engage them in their daily routines such as during meals or bedtime. My favorite occupation is play! I love table-top games like Jenga, UNO, or checkers. I also enjoy creative projects like painting, drawing, and making friendship bracelets. I have tutoring experience in grades K-5th grade. I specialize in reading and writing, but can also support with basic mathematics skills. As a native Spanish speaker, I can teach your children how to read, write, and speak in a second language.
