I currently work at the Meaningful Futures Organization in Bethesda, Maryland as a camp counselor, working with children with disabilities on Saturdays. I’m looking for more part-time work during the week! I’m 20 years old and have a variety of hobbies, including reading, journaling, painting, and crafting. I’ve had a passion for working with children for years. In high school, I volunteered and worked with kids in several roles: camp counselor, camp volunteer, and camp mentor. My duties included supervising children ages 5-15 during lunch, recess, downtime, and field trips. I also led activities like kickball, arts and crafts lessons, and made sure the younger children took their naps. Additionally, I’ve worked with an after-school program called Better Than Schools as an after-school care teacher. In that role, I supervised field trips, assisted students with homework, led fun and educational house mania activity days, and curated lesson plans to ensure the children were engaged and learning. I am in my final year of teacher training, and as I look back on my journey so far, I realize how much working with kids has shaped who I am. Over the past year, I’ve had the opportunity to teach in both elementary and high school, and it has been amazing to watch students grow, learn, and gain confidence in themselves. For eight years, I have also babysat for several families, caring for children ages 2 to 12, which taught me how important it is to create a safe, fun, and supportive environment where kids feel comfortable being themselves. My involvement in scouting has been another huge part of my life—over the past ten years, I’ve worked with kids from 6 to 18, guiding them through challenges, adventures, and leadership opportunities. I even spent time in Colorado working at the YMCA, leading outdoor lessons for kids ages 8 to 16, which combined two things I love most: teaching and being outside.
