Hello! My name is Shalyse. I graduated in 2022 from Prince George’s Community College in Business Administration. I am now pursuing a degree in Human Resources Management. When I’m not working, I enjoy traveling and going to church. I am an outgoing person that is also trustworthy. I have a passion for working with children. They keep me young and energized! I previously worked at Maryland Parks & Recreation as an Inclusion Specialist. I’ve been a tutor at various recreation centers and was a teachers aid assisting with various dance classes. A little bit about me… Families often tell me I bring a calm, and engaging presence—especially with babies, toddlers, and preschool-aged children. I love nurturing curiosity through play, encouraging independence, and creating predictable routines that help children feel safe, confident, and deeply cared for. Over the past year, I've had the privilege of serving as a full-time live-out nanny for a wonderful family with two energetic, strong-willed children (currently ages 3 and 5). With my experience homeschooling and parenting my own high energy children, this role strengthened my abilities even more. My responsibilities include daily transportation in the family's vehicle to and from school, camps, appointments, play dates, and extracurricular activities, while maintaining a safe, organized, and dependable routine. I am neurodiversity-affirming and have additional training supporting children with learning differences, including dyslexia, and dysgraphia. My focus is always connection-based care. Lauren is a passionate educator and an award-winning teacher with a love for bettering our future leaders. Noticing the need to fill the gap for supplemental education services, she naturally gravitated to tutoring and now has several students that she mentors. Seeing this as a movement that goes beyond herself, she started BK Tutoring Sessions to help even more educators connect with students in need. Lauren has over 16 years of experience as an educator which includes work with KIPP Public Charter Schools, Teach for America, Virginia Beach Public Schools, and District of Columbia Public Schools. She has a Bachelors Degree in Sociology with a focus on race, class, and gender from Hampton University, a Masters Degree in Education from Regent University, and an Educational Leadership certification from Longwood University.

I am available full time and truly enjoy helping children grow, learn, and feel safe in a loving environment. As a proud grandmother of three, I understand how important it is for families to have someone they trust to care for their children.
