My educational background includes studying Psychology at Felician University, where I developed a strong interest in child development, behavior, and supporting individuals with different learning needs. I am continuing to pursue my goal of completing my education and becoming a certified Special Education teacher, with a particular interest in working with neurodivergent children. My experience has given me the opportunity to work with students who require additional patience, structure, communication, and individualized support. My passion for working with children with special needs is also deeply personal. I am a parent of children with special needs, and my own experiences have given me a deeper understanding of the challenges, strengths, and unique needs that children and their families may experience. Being a parent has taught me patience, compassion, advocacy, and the importance of celebrating every child's individual progress. It is one of the reasons I chose to dedicate my career to working with children who need additional support. I consider myself a loving and caring caregiver because I genuinely care about the well-being of every child I work with. I understand that children need more than supervision—they need patience, encouragement, understanding, consistency, and someone who will advocate for them. Hi - My name is Sara, and I’m currently a second-year master’s candidate in the Department of Environmental Health Science as part of Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health. I enjoy babysitting and have grown up helping family and friends by caring for infants, toddlers, and kids since I was 16. My responsibilities have included changing diapers, warming bottles, making snacks, watching them while the parents are away, getting them ready for bed, walking them to their bus stops, storytelling, and even some arts and crafts! I worked with multiple clients as a self-employed private educator overseas for ~5 years. I taught a self-developed curriculum based on the experts’ approach to teaching English as a foreign language. I tutored English, Science, Mathematics, and History for students in international schools. (1st grade to 12th). As well as English reading and writing for students with learning difficulties such as Dyslexia. Additionally, I assisted in developing the curriculum for Happy Bees overseas before the grand opening and held a preschool and kindergarten teacher position. I volunteered at a nursing home throughout high school. I recently received a bachelor of science degree in community health, which has deepened my understanding of populations in every age group. As the years pass, I’ve been assisting my parents with more tasks and am very comfortable with senior care. I can do light cooking, help with organizing, or other responsibilities. (I also enjoy technology-free conversation zones and board games). I am a big fan of pets! I’ve had turtles, birds, and cats. I have five cats back home, one of which is the queen, who gave birth to three healthy kittens in my bed, refusing to do so anywhere else in the house. Of course, I was there for her every step of the way, soothing and feeding her calming treats. I am very familiar with their care and needs. While I’ve never had a dog, I’ve walked my friends’ and thoroughly enjoy their company. If needed, I am open to day/weekend-long babysitting, pet care, and housesitting.

Nice to meet you! I’m a 26-year-old with a wealth of experience in childcare and informal education. I have worked as a sitter/nanny for several families with school-aged kids (mostly 4-15) over the past 10 years, including children with disabilities. I am a former sleepaway camp counselor, lifeguard, and swim instructor. I have also tutored elementary students in English while abroad and worked as a teaching assistant in my local synagogue throughout high school, though I am not a particularly religious person. Some of my interests include arts and crafts, the outdoors, board games, reading and writing, cooking, and baking. I am also a cat owner and grew up with dogs so I am more than happy to help out with pets! My affect has been described as warm, wise, and practical, and I pride myself on my strong ability to place myself in another person’s shoes, as well as being a very responsible problem solver who is quick on their feet. I have also worked in food service, which can attest to my ability to work with a positive attitude even in fast-paced, high-stress situations, though caring for your child/ren will likely be much less stressful than working in a New York City restaurant!
