Hello families! I’m excited to meet you and your kiddos! I’m Maria but children like using my nickname, Ria 😊 I've been in Portland for most of my life. I love it here, especially the proximity to all the natural beauty and the ocean. I'm a passionate hiker and always chasing the next waterfall. I have 20+ years of experience in childcare, from infants to teens. I have been co-parenting my young niece and nephew for 5 years, I was a foster mother for a year and I’ve cared for many other children through the years, so I have a wide range of experience. I believe in creating a safe, nurturing environment for children to experience their journeys. I encourage children to express themselves and explore the world through creation, imagination, playtime, activities, movement, games, singing, exploring nature, reading and most of all, FUN! I love a good little dance party. I will keep your child(ren) engaged during our time together! My belief is that children are simply young people exploring their way through this wonderful and sometimes challenging world. What an honor for us as adults to help guide them on their journeys. I am happy to prepare meals and clean up during my visit as it relates to your child’s care, but my priority is to focus on your child(ren) during our time together. I’m available for some house cleaning for an additional charge (at naptime or after bedtime, for example). I’m available for part time and occasional care, including overnight stays. I’m also available for pet and housesitting. I’m an excellent communicator and will keep you informed throughout your time away, as frequently or infrequently as you prefer. My name is Makenna! I have been working in early childhood education for four years, children ranging from ages of 6 weeks to 6 years. I am currently a preschool teacher, teaching ages 3-4 years old in a learning through play environment. I am very big on communication as I know there can’t be trust between a family and the caretaker they choose for their child. Having a daily routine is an amazing thing to have with children and I am able to follow that schedule with given instructions and keep the house rules for your child as not to disturb a child’s daily routine. One of my favorite activities to do with children is art! I am not afraid of a mess as messes can be cleaned up;paint, play dough or coloring. In my free time I like to be outside, spending time with family or coming into these cold fall days staying in for a movie and some soup. As I do currently work a full time job 6:30-3:30, I am only available for weekday evening part-time or one-time job offers and available most weekends. I’ve taken several child development classes and worked as a summer camp counselor for kids ages 4–12. As the oldest sister, I’ve also had a lot of hands-on experience helping care for my younger siblings when they were toddlers. I previously worked as a DSP in a youth residential program as well. I was majoring in Art & Design at PSU and am currently taking a break from school. I love going on little adventures with the kids and have arts & crafts activities!

Hi there! My name is Ray, and I would be happy to support your family with my childcare expertise. I’ve worked in a variety of non-traditional and traditional education settings for 14 years now. My favorite experience was being a camp counselor at Camp Tamarack, I loved how learning outside made kids more engaged with the material and each other. It means a lot to me to connect children with to the nature near them, especially since I was born and raised in the beauty of Bend, Oregon. Professionally, I’ve worked mostly in nursery and early childhood education settings, although I’ve been doing occasional babysitting and nannying the longest. The majority of my experience is with infants, toddlers, and children under 7. I very much value reading, at every age. Going to the library is one of my favorite things to do in Portland!
