Hello, my name is Ashley. I am currently working as a first-grade assistant teacher. I was previously a nanny for six years, and I have also worked in a childcare center for 2yrs. I started babysitting when I was 15, and I have loved working with kids. I also obtained a certificate in early childhood education while pursuing a degree in Early Childhood Education at UDC. Over the years, I have worked with children from infancy to kindergarten up to middle school age. I enjoy teaching children through play and creative arts, and I love Incorporating outside playtime. I'm a graduate student currently pursuing a master's in social work. I was a sitter and nanny throughout high school and college. More recently I have returned to working in childcare in a more formal setting as I work towards my degree. For the past year, I was a clinical social work intern at an elementary school in Montgomery County, MD providing child play therapy to students ages 5-11 with a variety of support needs. Prior to that, I worked at Horton's Kids, a non-profit in Southeast DC providing after school programming and supports to families in the neighborhood. I assisted with after school enrichment programs and also worked directly with students K-8 on social and emotional learning.
