I love being a nanny since it is so much fun to build relationships with kids and watch them grow and develop their interests, character and personality. Kids are always hopeful, positive and strive to do what they want to do. The sky is the limit for them and I love that about kids. I strive to be a positive influence and romodel to all kids and I value making a positive impact in their lives. Being a nanny isn't just a job, its a calling! My experience: ~Being a nanny for multiple families, including kids with special needs. I have worked for multiple nanny and babysitting companies ~I have worked as a Behavior Technician as well as a Special Needs Paraeducator for various school districts. Both one-on-one and in group settings with kids with a variety of behavioral issues and developmental disabilities, mostly on the autism spectrum. ~Academically I have experience being a tutor and am very familiar with K-12 curriculum in the area, mostly at the elementary level. ~When I was a Teacher Counselor at a residential treatment facility I helped with leading, mentoring, modeling, facilitating groups and upbuilding youth socioemotionally.  ~I have 3 kids so I'm very familiar with how difficult it is to raise kids these days. It is definitely the hardest job being a parent but its the most rewarding also!

Alexa Vancouver
$18 per hour for 1 child

Hi there! My name is Alexa, I am 21 years old, and I would love to get to know you and your kiddos! A little about who I am and my experience: I am a 2023 WSU graduate with my B.S. in Psychology, and before I go on to continue my education, I wanted to take the time to get to know myself and my passions a bit more. One of the areas of psychology that I always thought I might want to focus on is child development - and I thought that babysitting/nannying during my break between school would be a wonderful chance to experience the wonderful hearts and minds of kiddos and see if that is something I should further pursue. I am the eldest child of my parents’ four children, with one sister being 8 years younger than me and one brother being 13 years younger than me. Much of my childhood was spent changing diapers, helping with nap time, playing with them, watching them while my parents were busy or out for the night, and generally being a big part of their early years. I also had experience working with children through my church, as we frequently volunteered at a local family homeless shelter where we would play with the kids and try to brighten their days just a bit. Through my church I also spent a couple weeks in Kosovo in the summer of 2019 where I helped teach the local children English. It was a wonderful experience and one that I would love to return to one day. For transparency, I will be candid and say that it has been a second since I have been actively involved in the child caring world. Because of covid during my last two years of high school, and because I was getting my Bachelor’s degree so young, circumstances made it so that I haven’t been able to care for children like I used to in a while. My siblings have also made it clear that they are now too old and way too cool to hang out with their older sister! I will completely understand if my gap in my child caring resume makes you feel uneasy or uncomfortable. I wouldn’t ever expect a parent to trust their children with someone unless they were 100% comfortable with the person- and I am very okay if that isn’t me. If you do think we will be a good fit, I am happy to speak at your convenience! Childcare is a wonderful, fulfilling job and I am very excited to jump back into that world again. Thank you so much for taking the time to read about me and for considering me as a candidate to take care of your kiddos :)

The wonderful thing about loving your job is it’s easy to show up with a smile and a positive attitude. I really like working in the care sector and especially enjoy watching children grow, learn and become individuals. I live alone so I have flexibility with my schedule. I do have a cat if you are allergic. I am hoping to focus on childcare for all ages. In the past 14yrs I’ve cared for, and spent time with, children between the ages of 4 and 17, between 1[removed] I had experience with infants and toddlers. My niece and nephews are my greatest joy. One nephew is neurodivergent and my niece is special needs, I only mention this because it taught me patience, healthy coping skills and communication. Practically speaking, what I can offer: 1) I can cook and bake, focusing on vegetable heavy dishes. If you have a craving for spanakopita or NY cheesecake? I can provide. 2) I’m a very safe driver with a reliable car. I haven’t had a car accident or traffic ticket since 1995. I’m more than happy to drive to do errands, pick up groceries, do school pick ups & drop offs and trips to the soccer field. 3) I’m a VERY creative person! I have a ton of arts and crafts supplies that I can bring for everything from watercolors to polymer clay sculpture. I’m also good with stories, silly songs and funny dances. 4) I am happy to help with a little homework (familiar with Montessori teaching practices) playing games, reading nighttime stories and TALKING with children to develop vocabulary and communication. I should mention I’m open to being a support person for child birthday parties or group outings. I’d be thrilled to do elder care and am very respectful, soft spoken when appropriate, and would be just as happy playing cribbage as reading whatever is of interest to my client. I honesty enjoy looking at family photo albums and listening to THEIR stories. I volunteered for 11 years at a care facility painting the ladies nails and reading to male and female clients. Have experience working with clients who have dementia. And finally I can do cat and small dog sitting duties. I have had cats living with me for decades, and few dogs too. I’m very pet friendly. No housecleaning duties other than laundry, dishes, counters and picking up after play time. Hope this inspires you to message and/or meet with me to see if I’m the right fit for you and your family. Have a great day!

My kids loved her. The perfect personality for children - warm, caring, positive, upbeat, reliable. She made food for my children and we will definitely hire again!

"We absolutely LOVE Isa — our family was so fortunate to have found her through UrbanSitter. I'm a first-time mom, and it took me a long time to find a full-time nanny I could trust to care for our sweet infant boy. Our boy connected with her immediately, and we couldn't have asked for anyone else to care for him. Her calming presence was also perfect for parents like us who work from home. We feel so lucky UrbanSitter helped us find someone who has truly become a part of our family."

"I was so stressed about finding a part-time nanny for my 14-month-old son, who has moderate separation anxiety and hadn't been left with anyone but family before, but we were both immediately at ease in Buhay's presence. Her empathy and commitment to understanding child development are apparent in every interaction I've witnessed between her and my toddler. I feel very lucky to have found her."

"Erna watched our now 5 year old daughter and 3 year old son for a few years. She is punctual, responsible, honest, and playful. What we appreciated most was that she was thoughtful in ensuring that we had a little break; for example, when the kids were clingy, she was able to divert their attention with games or songs or walks to the park. We felt very comfortable leaving our kids with Erna because of her caring nature and experience that spans a decade (including being a live-in nanny)."
