We're a professional family in Central Tacoma with two young children (ages 2.5 and 5) seeking a dependable, proactive Family Assistant/Nanny to help keep our afternoons running smoothly during the school year. This role combines light household support with after-school childcare. We're looking for someone who enjoys working with young children, communicates well, takes initiative, and can help make our afternoons and evenings run more smoothly. Two consistent afternoons per week (Tuesday, Wednesday, and/or Thursday) 1:30 PM to 5:00 PM We'll work together to establish a consistent schedule that works well for everyone. The position includes 7 guaranteed hours per week, even if we occasionally do not need the full scheduled time. There may also be opportunities for additional hours in the future if mutually desired. What You'll Do Household Support The first portion of each shift will typically be available for light household support before school and daycare pickup. Tasks may include: Children's laundry, including folding and putting away clothes Light kitchen cleanup and dishwasher loading/unloading Preparing simple snacks and light meal prep Tidying children's play areas Organizing school, activity, and childcare items Helping keep family spaces organized and ready for the week This is not a housecleaning position. We are not looking for deep cleaning or housekeeping services. Childcare & Transportation School and daycare locations are both within Tacoma. Responsibilities include: School and/or daycare pickup Safely transporting children home Serving snacks and helping children transition from school to home Engaging children in age-appropriate activities and play Maintaining a positive, calm, and structured environment Supporting children's growing independence and routines Qualifications We're looking for someone who is warm, dependable, and comfortable taking initiative. Preferred qualifications include Previous childcare, nanny, family assistant, teaching, or related experience Valid driver's license and clean driving record Reliable vehicle and proof of insurance Comfortable transporting young children CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain certification after hire Strong organizational and communication skills. Spanish proficiency is a plus. Both children attend Spanish-immersion childcare programs, and we'd love opportunities to reinforce their Spanish exposure at home.
