Babysitter / Family Assistant Job Description (Part-Time + Saturdays) Position Summary We are seeking a dependable and responsible babysitter to assist our family with childcare, school transportation on designated weekdays, and Saturday care. This role requires a valid driver's license and a clean driving record. Responsibilities will include early-morning starts on certain weekdays, full-day care on some Saturdays, and general support with daily routines. Key Responsibilities School Drop-off & Pick-up (Only on Selected Work Days) * Required exclusively on days when a parent is scheduled to work, not on a daily basis. * Arrival by 5:30 AM on these specific days is necessary. * There is an option to stay overnight the evening before early-start days. * Tasks include dressing the children, preparing lunch, and overseeing morning routines. * Transportation of two children to one school and a third child to another school (approximately 15 minutes apart, both located in Northwest DC) will be required. * Picking up all children after school and remaining with them until a parent returns (typically by 8 PM) is also part of this responsibility. Saturday Care * Full-day care (5:30 AM – 8 PM) on Saturdays when a parent is working. * A shorter shift (10 AM – 6 PM) on Saturdays when a parent is not working. General Childcare Duties * Providing attentive care and supervision. * Engaging children in safe, age-appropriate activities. * Preparing snacks and/or meals as needed. * Maintaining a warm and structured environment. * Ensuring safety at all times, particularly during transportation. Schedule * Part-time on weekdays, exclusively on selected work days requiring school drop-off/pick-up. * Full-time on Saturdays when a parent is working. * A shorter Saturday shift when a parent is not working. Requirements * A valid driver’s license. * A clean driving record. * A reliable personal vehicle. * Experience caring for multiple children. * The ability to work early mornings. * Comfort with long shifts on certain days. * Trustworthiness, punctuality, and organizational skills are highly valued.
