About this nanny job

We’re a family in Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn looking for a warm, reliable and proactive part-time Family Assistant/Nanny for our two daughters, ages 7 and 9. This is a true 50/50 role: approximately half household/family support and half childcare. We’re looking for someone who enjoys helping a busy household run smoothly and is equally comfortable taking initiative around the home and caring for school-age kids. Schedule: Monday–Friday, approximately 1:30/2:00–6:30/7:00pm, around 20–25 hours/week. We’re looking for someone who can commit consistently for the school year and ideally longer. Flexibility to stay late some evenings would be very helpful as well. Household/family assistant responsibilities include: daily tidying and resetting the home, family laundry and putting clothes away, organization, light meal prep, unpacking/putting away groceries and packages, keeping track of groceries and household supplies that are running low. We have separate help for deep cleaning, so this is not a housekeeping position. We do want someone who notices what needs to be done and takes initiative. Childcare responsibilities include: school pickup, taking the kids to activities around Brooklyn/NYC, supervising homework, playdates and downtime, preparing snacks and simple meals, and helping them stay organized. Driving is not required, but you must be very comfortable navigating NYC and using public transportation. Our ideal person is warm with kids, dependable, communicative, organized, energetic and proactive, with prior experience caring for school-age children and strong references. Reliability and long-term commitment are extremely important to us. Compensation: $28–32/hour depending on experience, fit and responsibilities, with consistent weekly hours for the right person.
