About this nanny job

We are a Montclair family looking for a warm, energetic, dependable caregiver for our funny, imaginative, and strong-willed 4-year-old daughter. She loves building, art, music, singing, playgrounds, climbing, swinging, learning to ride her bike, and all things Frozen. The regular paid schedule is Monday through Friday, 2:45 to 7:00 p.m. The first responsibility is picking her up from preschool in Glen Ridge at 3:00 p.m. The school is strict about lateness, so exceptional punctuality and reliable transportation are essential. During summer, pickup will be from camp. After pickup, you will care for her at our Montclair home and approved local places such as the library, playground, and scheduled activities. Responsibilities include engaged, mostly screen-free play; transportation to classes; preparing simple child meals and snacks; cleaning up child-related messes; and helping with baths on the family schedule. We use calm redirection and firm but gentle boundaries. Our daughter can be shy with unfamiliar adults and needs someone patient who lets trust build at her pace. One parent may work from home about two days per week; you have full responsibility during working hours. No pets. We also need occasional 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. coverage on school or camp closure days, plus occasional later evenings for work delays or date nights. Extra hours are paid. We hope to find someone who can stay with our family for multiple years. Requirements: at least two years of paid childcare experience including preschool-age children; strong punctuality and reliability; own safe, reliable car, valid license, current insurance, clean driving record; two childcare references; non-smoker; willing to complete background and driving-record checks; comfortable with simple meals, baths, outings, and driving to activities; pediatric CPR/first aid or willingness to complete family-paid certification after hiring. Pay: $30 per hour, 21.25 guaranteed weekly hours, paid extra hours, mileage reimbursement, accrued paid sick leave. Start date Monday, September 28.
