Adult Autism Support Worker / Direct Support Professional I am looking for a dependable, patient, compassionate caregiver to support my adult son with autism in our home in Arlington, Texas. I am seeking someone who understands that an autistic adult may have significant communication and motor-planning challenges while also having much more understanding than he can express verbally. Responsibilities may include: Providing companionship and building a trusting relationship. Supporting communication using Spelling to Communicate (S2C), with a willingness to learn and follow his established communication supports. Helping with exercise, adaptive fitness, swimming, and community outings. Encouraging independence and participation in daily activities. Providing assistance and supervision according to his individual needs. Communicating consistently with me about activities and progress. Ideal candidate: Has experience with autistic adults or individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Is patient, respectful, reliable, and calm. Is willing to learn his routines, communication needs, and preferences. Has reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license if driving is required. Can provide references and complete appropriate background checks.
