Part-Time Family Assistant & After-School Caregiver — Chevy Chase Area We are a busy family with four children (ages 14, 11, 9, and 5) looking for a warm, dependable, proactive person to help with childcare and household organization. Our 5-year-old needs active attention and engagement. We’re looking for someone who genuinely enjoys playing with young children and can take the lead with him while helping our household run more smoothly. Schedule: Tuesday–Thursday, approximately 2:00–7:00 p.m. (15 hours/week), with some flexibility. Responsibilities Provide engaging care for our 5-year-old through play, activities, outdoor time, and help with transitions and his evening routine. Help the children settle in after school, manage snacks and routines, and encourage positive behavior and age-appropriate independence. Help get the children's dinners started, including preparing simple foods and accommodating their established preferences. Take primary responsibility for our youngest during agreed hours so parents can work or attend to other responsibilities. Manage laundry from washing through folding and putting away. Reset the kitchen and common areas and help keep everyday clutter under control. Organize and maintain the refrigerator, pantry, and household storage areas. Keep backpacks, shoes, and sports equipment organized and help establish simple household systems. We have a house cleaner, so this is not a deep-cleaning position. We need help with everyday household tasks alongside excellent childcare. Ideal candidate Has substantial experience caring for young children. Is warm, patient, energetic, organized, and takes initiative. Enjoys actively engaging children rather than simply supervising them. Can balance childcare and household tasks, prioritizing children's needs when they need attention. Communicates well and wants to become a trusted part of our family's routine.
