About this nanny job

We are a Brooklyn family looking for a warm and reliable after-school babysitter for our 7-year-old daughter. Warm and reliable are the two qualities that matter most to us in this role — someone she will feel comfortable with and happy to see every day, and someone we can count on, every time, for school and bus pickups. The main requirement is simple: you need to be free from 2:00pm onwards, four days a week, Monday through Thursday. About 15 hours a week in total. On those afternoons you would either: • meet her school bus at the bus stop in Brooklyn, or • pick her up from school in Manhattan and bring her home to Brooklyn. Which days are which can change from term to term, so the mix varies — but it is always some combination of those two, always Mon–Thu afternoons. We can share the exact locations and times privately if we talk. After pickup: help with homework and reading, play / crafts / park time, and cook a simple dinner for her. Cooking is important for this role, and so is genuinely loving children. We also expect someone who is tidy and helps around the house as part of the role — tidying up after activities and meals, keeping things organised, and pitching in with light household help in downtime. Just as important, we want a sitter who is a good role model for our daughter: someone who shows her good manners and good citizenship in everyday life — being kind, polite, respectful, responsible, and considerate of others and of shared spaces. The role is focused on our daughter — but as another adult in the home, lending a helping hand with whatever needs to be done while you're here is an expectation of the job, not an extra.
